Goaltending was incredible for Tampa last light. I'll be the first to admit I tuned out after the two goals against late in the second.

Pierre LeBrun said that the Carolina Hurricanes had a trade fall through at the last minute with a Western Conference team. They are looking for a top-six forward, and it’s believed they’ve talked internally about Toronto Maple Leafs winger Kasperi Kapanen. Kapanen is a pending RFA, and the Hurricanes haven’t put forth a trade offer yet. The Hurricanes have defenseman that could interest the Maple Leafs.

McKenzie adds the Leafs don’t have anything imminent but they’ll be looking for help on the blueline. There is no guarantee the Blues would trade Alex Pietrangelo, but they would listen, and the Maple Leafs would be interested.

McKenzie continues that forwards Andreas Johnsson and Connor Brown are two others that the Maple Leafs could trade for a defenseman. Johnsson is arbitration eligible after this season and could be a reason why he’s moved over Kapanen.

I can’t imagine Brown would be worth much in a package right now, but if he’s going to be playing 4th line he will be making too much for that role next season.

I mean he is worth what he is being paid.

He is a very reliable player in the defensive zone and the neutral zone. He has been very meh in the offensive zone this year.

But in a package he does hold value imo.

Yeah I think he’s on a decent deal but next year having anyone making over a million on the 4th line probably won’t fly. I don’t think he’d bring back much of an upgrade to line up really anywhere in a deal though. They’re not getting a top 4 guy in a deal where Brown is a main piece. Who knows though I guess

Never mind dis’ing the goat, it was Nylander with 2 bad giveaways that cost us. On top of that, Vasilevsky had one of the best goaltending performances I’ve seen. Leafs were pretty impressive last night.

It was an unpopular opinion but I was on here a few days ago suggesting this TDL is the time to trade Kap or Johnnson+ for a top 4 D...I said they won't be able to afford a 2-3 million dollar guy on the 4th line.

I think their values are higher than Brown so keep Brown and trade one of them.

Matthews didn't have much jump at all, but TB did a great job of shutting down his side on the PP

Yeah I really like both but something has to give and even if Nylander hasn’t looked great yet he’s still better then Kap. I think he’d be a nice piece that teams would want in return for a good Dman. What Kap gets this year for a deal will be interesting imo.

Dubas and CO know what the ballpark where each player will be willing to take in a deal and also know which player teams with D men available like better...So I would trust Dubas.

Kaps forchecking is awesome though...He is really showing Babs he wants to play with Matthews to be that "dog on a bone" player on his line.
