I like McCabe a lot, but he’s a candidate to be traded instead of giving a decent raise to.

Dahlin and Pilut make him a 3rd pairing player long term

- sbroads24

I've been saying this for a long time and still think it is true. I like McCabe and his play on this team but he has become susceptible to a lot of injuries and whether it is Guhle or now Pilut.. he has become expendable to not pay 3.5M to as a 3rd pairing maybe 2nd pairing guy.

If Sheary doesn't clean his sh1t up... I would very much be on board to move McCabe and a pick for a top 6 LWer up there. Nylander and/or Olofsson could give Sheary a run for ice time here soon too.

THIS THIS THIS.

This is my reaction to when people complain about Jack not scoring enough goals. If it's Jack's goal or him setting up a Skinner goal... I don't care who scores it. Look at the goals produced by THAT WHOLE LINE. Sam is almost a PPG player. The best he's been in his career was about a .55.

Botts getting Eichel signed for $10M is going to be one of the best deals in the NHL in a few years.

Let's give Pilut a bit more time before we crown him as a top 4 dman. He's played in 6 games. LIke what I've seen so far, but it's a very small sample size.

People talk about McDavid, Eichel, Matthews, Crosby, Malkin but seem to forget Nathan MacKinnon. Great player

would you rather have mccabe or scandella

that is the question for the next 2 seasons IMO, said it all off season

- homiedclown

McCabe & Bowl-U are RFA after this season.

Why does it have to be between McCabe and Scandella?

I'd take Bowl-U over Scandella

If Skinner gets between $8.5-9M I hope all the Reinhart fans dont get too attached.

So far, yes. But it's still very early in the game. Love what I've seen so far.

And I think the fact that they're going to have to make these decisions is also why you may see them try and figure out a way to keep him here once other guys come back from injury. So they can really see what they have in him. There's just not enough of a sample size at this point to really be able to make an informed decision.

There's some good fellers named Schiefele, Point, Draistail, Seguin, Monahan, and Stamkos too I hear.

There was an article in the Athletic the other day about the top forward on each team through 30 games based on ATOI and the stats that the team puts up with them on the ice. They basically said Eichel and MacKinnon have a very similar trajectory career wise to this point.

If Eichel had Tavares and Marner at his disposal on the PP he'd be top 1 in scoring right now.

I feel like that 10 game mark where other teams have film on you.... that's the good test. Did they figure out how to attack you... exploit a weakness.

Stammer is on the decline. Schiefele is on Matthews and Eichel level. Point, Monahan are just behind.

Took MacK 5 years to explode. Eichel is steadily improving (in all areas). Just like his stride, he's going to keep ramping up and blow the league out of the water by year 5.

16-17, I couldn't sell MacK for peanuts. Avoided him like the plague in the 17-18 draft. Good for this guy.

$3.8 for 3 more years

Or

$6m for 4 more

Okposo is a much worse situation imo

Player
Not contract.

It was a pretty good read.

It also just reinforced to me the fact that at the end of the day, there's no correlation between having good advanced stats and winning. Because based on most of the advanced stats out there, Carolina should be winning the Cup this year and that seems pretty unlikely.

Do you (the crowd) need more proof that advanced stats are not all consuming.

This season has been interesting for me in terms of what we've seen from Eichel thus far. For some reason, even though he's putting up points at his highest rate yet, I just feel like we're just really starting to scratch the surface of what we'll see from him over the next few years in general. It's just this kind of weird gut feeling I have. I'm not in any way disappointed in what he's done so far, even going into this year, but he just seems like he's on the verge of breaking out in a way we can't even fathom.

what if it's 8.5 or skinner tests free agency?
- homiedclown

Kings ransom time

8M is firm for me. I don't think there are many contenders that would offer 9. If he's willing to jump ship for 500k, let him. I'd play hard ball on that. Jack has upped his value so much, he should give 1M of whatever he signs for to Jack directly each season thereafter.

Worst case scenario, we sell him for more than we paid...

I don't. Personally, while they interest me, I don't read a lot into them or fully understand a lot of them to be honest. I think it makes for interesting conversation and discussion though.

The only real stat that means much of anything to me, is the one that shows up in W column at the end of each game. Is it a +1? Great. That's what I want to see.

It's no secret that I am not a fan of advanced stats so it is nice to see that the knowledge that they are not the "tell all" that some people treat them as.

If they were.... Pysyk would be a 3 time Norris winner instead of 36 pts in his last 183 games.

Advanced stats seem to like to trash Risto quite a bit too meaning he should be Joe Finley out there but he's not.
