His contract is for next season too, unfortunately.

That's a next season problem. Seriously though, at some point, you don't rock the boat. I'm not sure how much he's been in the locker room overall this year or anything. But the general group that's played all season so far has seemed to really mesh well. I wouldn't disrupt that just because a guy that you essentially took as a favor pretty much is ready to finally play more than 1/3 of the way into the season. Thanks, but nice knowing ya Hunwick.

I posted this in the last blog

if they want to win now, pilut should play over scandella when mccabe and scandella come back

problem is I don't hate beaulieu

maybe move dahlin to the right

mccabe-dahlin
pilut-risto
beaulieu-bogo

I can't see any other lineup where pilut gets a legit shot

- homiedclown

You missed Nelson, when everybody is healthy you have
19-55
4-26
6-8

82/48

really no room for Pilut unless someone gets traded/ waived

FIRST!!!

They did what they needed to do. Beat two bad teams at home.
Onward and upward.

Lets get 2/4 this weekend. Then we HAVE TO beat Florida.

Not that anyone cares, but I've been a very PRO-Reinhart guy since year 2. Just because he isn't FLASHY doesn't mean he isn't good

They'll have the same problems up front when Wilson comes back too. I'd assume they just throw Elie on waivers though.

I'm fine with assigning Hunwick to Rochester, and if somebody claims him, so be it. If not, he's even more depth in case of NHL injuries.

That said, as Matt Moulson pointed out, Nelson will come back at some point as well.

Going to be very interesting to see what happens with Thompson and Pilut when the roster is fully healthy.

Package a couple guys and a prospect for a top-9 forward, and definitely keep playing Pilut

The difference in depth we have between LHD and RHD is absurd. I think a 1 for 1 trade would make sense with a lot of teams that have the opposite problem.

Botts!!!
Nylander to the Oil, Jesse Puljarvi (sp) return.
Do it!!! They both need a change of scenery.

Then work on unloading Scandella, Hunwick, and Berglund.

flip dahlin back to the right

risto has played his best hockey with pilut, I don't want to break that up just to get the tale tail casey nelson back in the lineup

Lawrence pilut believe it or not has the highest Goals Above Replacement (GAR) on the team right now. Although a very brief sample size.

Goose- What if hunwick plays well? Maybe we take a look see first in Phil's system?

Jbotts is clearly familiar with him.

*although it did seem like part of a cap dump in the sheary trade

I agree, as much as this is a "transition year"
Play your best guys.

Pilut is clearly better then bowl u, scandella and nelson.

Correct. I was simply saying that Hunwick doesn't really cloud things for me, because he's a non factor in how things have gone this season.

But even removing him from the equation doesn't help the conundrum that they have if/when everyone is healthy. I mean, at some point I guess we're getting ahead of ourselves and assuming that will happen when we all know that it very well may not actually come up.

The guys you have are already playing well. I've already said it doesn't make sense to rock the boat. What you have is working.

and if you want an up tempo game

pilut and beaulieu bring more to this then scandella and nelson

we have seen more breakout passes since scandella went out from our D this year, then all of last season

the pick moves up a round if we trade hunwick, not if we waive him

"Pittsburgh will receive a third-round pick in 2019 if Buffalo trades away Hunwick before the 2019 NHL draft or if Sheary gets 20 goals or 40 points during the 2018–19 NHL season. If none of the conditions convert this will remain a fourth-round pick in 2019."

That only because he plays on Jacks wing

I kid,I have always liked Rhino, and that is mainly because I figured out really quickly that he is and always be just a 50-60 point guy with the ability to sprinkle in the odd 70 pt season and this may be the year he does that..

Hutton will score a goal this year, I was at the game yesterday and he had a great opportunity to do it. that will be awesome when it happens.

Skunk...currently on pace for 69 points (nice)

Skunk 64 points in his last 68 games

He can stay especially if they can get him on a team friendly deal

IF HUNWICK IS BETTER THEN TENNYSON HE SHOULD BE PLAYING.

HE HAS BEEN AROUND THE GUYS AND WITH THE SABRES ALL YEAR.

THE DEFENSE IS A LITTLE BROKEN AS WELL.
NEEDS SOME FIXING

1.) Stop yelling

2.) Yeah it's broken, McCabe is missing/hurt

3.) Play the best 6 if you want to be a true contending team

4.) Play the best 6 if you want to keep building for the future

5.) #3 and #4 is the same lineup IMO

6.) That lineup is:

Dahlin-Bogo
Risto-Pilut
McCabe-Bowl-U

7.) Scandella needs to be traded

8.) Nelson and Hunwick can battle it out for who is the 7th D

The Sabres aren't exactly the best team in the league, nor do they own the Nashville defense.

I think it's ok to try different things and blast Tennyson into the sun.

Sorry if that thought required caps, I wasn't sure if I had to type-yell.
