They’re both pawns. The only thing to root for here is Cap savings that can turn into higher value pieces

Exactly.
Except nothing was expected of Wilson except to play 10 minutes on the 4th line.
Berglund was expected to play 2C while Mitts develops...complete fail there.

He can't pack fast enough...maybe he can get Oli's taxi from the airport for the return trip.

Was he? I don’t think he was really anything more than a center in a pinch

I think most of us did...
Gotta believe he was forced on JBotts...but they could justify it for a season or two.

If they can get away with removing his contact....

Jackpot johnny!

We can find another guy to be the 18th forward for far less then 3.85 x 4 years.

Maybe he was the "old swedish guy" no one liked
Not the swedish godfather

From some guy on twitter

CBA Article 50.10 says:
(c)For Players that are suspended, either by a Club or by the League, the Player Salary and Bonuses that are not paid to such Players shall not count against a Club's Upper Limit or against the Players' Share for the duration of the suspension

It’s ok we are going to draft ROR’s replacement this year or next and Thompson will be a fixture on our team for years to come. We also have the added cap space. Patience my friend. Sobotka is gone after next year and I’m sure Botts will find a way to wiggle out of a berglund somehow.

What aspect of that chart suggests to you that we WANT Thompson to be a fixture on this team?

I would be wide open to include him in a trade.
He doesn't do alot for me.

Has the best shot on the team, has great hands, still has to fill out his frame and get experience. He won’t be a world breaker but he can be an effective 2/3rd line winger with PP time. He had a disasterous start to the year and that affected his GAR.

We don’t know the full situation yet but if he legitimately quit, (frank) him.

If he was told he was going to be scratched again, so he decided to stay home, (frank) him but I can see why he’d be pissed. It’s not like Sobotka, Okposo, have been any better

Outside of a few games has he?

He’s been brutal with the puck for most of the season and has turned into a grinder that doesn’t really produce

Yup. He’s been absolutely a top 9 forward since.

There’s a reason they kept with him despite him being a joke to start the year

@Ineffectivemath
I don't know if my instinct as a coach would have been to use Patrik Berglund as a defensive-zone beast of burden. Hardly a surprise that his production completely dried up with the most extreme zone deployment I think I've seen this season.
