Eklund reporting Keith on the trade block.... - EnzoD
Saw that. I believe there have been some conversations on what a trade could look like for all of the Hawks players.
At this point, I think Keith should be moved but only if it's for a solid return. That and if he's willing to move as he has the NMC. |

He would be coveted by a playoff contender which means the price should be no less than their 1st round pick (bottom half of 1st round) and their best non-NHL prospect.
Why wouldn’t the guy waive? The “not a development league” quote should tell you what he’s thinking about this team. The guy is 35, and a true competitor. If he has a chance to play meaningful hockey and maybe win again...why wouldn’t he waive?? |

1st kappean rosen for keith kunitz and a 4th justin would toronto make this deal? Also keith to phily if q coaches which is where i think he will so what would be good return from phily?

Hopefully trade him to Philly for a 1st as long it is not lottery protected. As of now the Flyers have about the 5th-6th worst record on the league.

TOR might do that ya.
The Leafs are going to be in a real pickle next year with the cap. They better go for it this year. |

Even if Keith helps the Leafs to the Cup this season, his salary going forward for the next few years surely won't help their upcoming cap problems. Maybe they won't resign Gardiner and keep 2 as an elder defenseman. |

So many mixed emotions with the 'Hawks a few years running now. Would love to see Keith retire a Hawk. But have no problem with him going to a contender. But would much prefer the Hawks become a contender again with Keith next year or the year after. |

I could see Crawford in Philly for another year to give Carter Hart another year of seasoning. Their top goalies Elliott and Neuvirth are UFA after this year and they'll need a NHL caliber goalie next year. I'll take a 1st as long as lottery unprotected. See my earlier note. Philly had the 5th-6th worst record as of now. Package Keith for some additional pieces too.
I'm sure if Q named Flyers coach, he may want to get some of the old band together.
Lol. This won't happen, but we can dream. |

If Q has been offered the Philly job he had better decide soon because the Flyboys are 8 or 9 points out of a playoff spot and they need a goaltender and an experienced defenceman at least. If Flyers lose in Vancouver tonight Holmgren & Co. will likely blow their stacks and fire the coach, waterboy and the team mascot. They might be vulnerable to doing something stupid in the trade market too.Stanbo could offer them Manning back and they might accept. |

Nobody wanted that f$n contract on the waiver wire. He will be given away soon to a low bidder. |

I don't think a team that hasn't won since 1967 is going to worry about that if they get there.

All depends on when hastlok gets fired i say if q wants to coach and when does he wants to coach this season or next season. If keith gets traded then i can see Crawford gets traded to. |

That's true. Cross the salary cap bridge when you get there. |

Let's cheer for the Canucks tonight and get the ball rolling. I'm thinking bigger pieces. 2 and 50
to be moved than Manning. |

Yeah good point, how about Charles Hudon, and the Canadians 2nd round pick or the other 2nd round pick they got from the Jackets, which ever ends up being the better pick. |

Assuming that trade is keith to Montreal? I think hawks can get more and desperate is phily to make the playoffs plus toronto there time is this season and next to win a cup cannot keep everyone ala hawks |

Agreed, there is no urgency to trade Keith at this point. The Hawks aren't a playoff team and trading a player of Keith's stature and resume in December to get back an insignificant 2nd round pick is just not the right thing to do. If he wants to go he will make the front office well aware and they will accomodate him.
And there is a load of injuries to defenceman around the league so holding out for max return is what a good GM would do. |
