My big concern here is the Pens being short-sighted. They can't sell off solid assets just to be good enough to secure a playoff spot only to eventually face Tampa or Toronto.

I think the Pens either need to stand pat or go all in. The only caveat is a true hockey move, but not one that's lateral. Not a wing for a wing.

This is his paydirt ride of into the sunset contract year. I can see how he'd want more time and PP time to get points. I really can't stand him on Sid's wing but if he's gonna whine he better put up some points there.
- Thorny87

Hornqvist has to be in the top 6. So if I were forced to do this, I'd put him at LW with Geno.

If there's anything to the Kessel/Bozak realtionship, that move would make sense if you want "3 scoring lines". Does Bozak PK? I'm assuming he does.

I thought Brass missed a couple prime dishes from Sid last night.

Brass is going to get paid regardless. Someone of his caliber in the open market is going to get overpaid by someone. If the Pens have a better shot at winning the cup with him at 3C and they at least make to the conf. finals with him there? He's definitely getting paid.

If he wins the cup? I mean, just look at the contract Bones got and Brass >>> Bones.

A lot of if's there. He will get paid obviously. They all get paid. What I'm saying is I can see why he'd be unhappy with 3C and 2nd PP in a contract year.

What are they gonna do to get Geno going? Is a swap of Jake and Pearson the answer? Jake and Sid play well together but I'm wondering what a Pearson Sid Horny line looks like.

He needs to get himself going...and will.

I thought Geno was pouting a bit when Phil was off his line but it's carried over and the two of them look pretty bad together right now. Whatever s going on we need them to snap out of it.

I still can't believe of all the games Rust has been moved to the top 6 last night wasn't one of them. He coulda had 5. The puck was following him all night and that's the night Sully chooses not to put him with Sid.

You're not interested in seeing that line play? Seems a bit like and old Kuny Sid Duper line. If it doesn't work fine but I'd like to see it. Jake can only help Geno's offence. The D might be a bit sh!t on that line though.

Leads the NHL in wins
I don't call that "dogpoop" or "trash"

Oh boy
I guess that means that Laurent Broissoit is elite with his .932

- Not_Yan

Currently he is playing extremely well.
He has given the Jets 6 quality starts out of 7.
He has a 5v5 sv% of .937

That’s a pretty small sample size but he hasn’t played extremely well in his 7 games.

I'm interested in all things Penguins including all line combos and experiments. I just mean that the man is a driver of play usually and hasnt been the last handful of games. I think he probably knows he can give more and I think that he will.

The Pens missing 1 super important winger plus 1 solid winger has a ripple effect on the whole team. The PP hasnt been as effective and theres been more shuffling than usual. Despite this they are still very much in the games and still playing moderately well to good to great.

I get what you’re stating. I’m saying he’s foolish to not look at overall success as a means up his ask.

Well Ek says we’re talking to the Blues so I guess we’re not getting Parayko or Schwartz...

I can't believe anyone would want to trade assets for Jaden Schwartz. Dude's NEVER played a full season in the NHL and is one of the most injury prone buggers there is in the NHL.

You do realize you have to have something of value to give up to get the players you're talking about right ?

players that are playing like crap and some late round draft picks won't get you a Tarasenko

It's easy to see us talking with the Blues. Rutherford has a history of making deals with Armstrong. I could see something to your Bozak idea waaaaay more than those other guys.

Sheahan is not a suitable 3C IMO and Brass in the top six is terrible also IMO. If Brass is truly insistent then he needs to jettison and my target from STL would be Bozak.

I just can't believe that someone of Brass' age who's comes as close as he did to winning a cup wouldn't want his best shot possible vs. having to play in the top six.

- Rinosaur

Top 6 gets paid more than bottom 6. He's 31 with junk wingers. I wouldn't be happy if i were him either. Winning the cup is great but getting paid is better.

I know...when he's healthy he's a stud but he never is. NO way pens could land Taresnenko so Schwartz is a top 6 that makes sense but IDK.

But isn’t the word that Tarasenko is playing like crap...? Isn’t that why he’s available?

(PS. I don’t see it. 20 points in 29 games is solid IMO.)

I think what gets Tarasenko is Guentzel, a 1st, Hallender, and salary cap with some value like Maatta, Murray, or Rust. Playing like crap or no, he’s gonna command a ransom. But the more I think about it the more I’m with you and think the improvement we make going from Guentzel to Tarasenko isn’t worth the assets. The relative improvement we can make acquiring someone else with those assets and keeping Guentzel is greater what we’d make with that trade.

IF we could snag Schwartz/Parayko that be cool.

Carolina is probably our biggest enemy and most likely reason we'd have a hard time swinging for bigger names. They can dangle Pesce and we can dangle Maatta
