Last year is a much different story, but yeah this year they both suck. Murray hasn't been the same since his father got very sick and passed. IDK if it has anything to do with it but it's around that same time.

you're right, and you can't really pull some revisionist history poop and say Fleury would have been a stud for Pittsburgh last year either.

Brassard at wing and Sheahan Cullen down the middle. Hate it.

No no, I'm not saying we made the wrong decision. Just pointing that out. If I was the GM I would have done the exact same thing.

The faster we can trade for Schwartz and get Horny back in the lineup the better. I know that still won't knock Cullen out of the lineup but that puts Brass at 3c.
Edit: if we did trade for Schwartz.

I'll say this... those handful of minutes Brass played last game on Sid's wing might be the best hockey he's played for us since before he got hurt in the playoffs last season.

Pretty sure Schwartz primarily plays on the LW so I'd do something like...

I'm very ok with that too. I think that's better balance anyways and gives Brass a better winger.

IF we could snag Schwartz/Parayko that be cool.
- 668710

Schwartz, Parayko, Tarasenko, Muzzin, Carter, Coyle... some really intriguing names "on the block"

We were discussing if we'd give up Guentzel for Tarasenko... I still do that without hesitation. Guentzel is going to cost $6M+ soon anyway and Tarasenko is a much more dynamic talent (imo).

I get the feeling that GMJR would like to go big game hunting but doesnt have the assets... I think something like Brassard for Coyle or Maatta for Muzzin would be a good starting point. Instead of paying futures that we dont have much of, make equal value deals for players that dont fit our system/identity.

If JR was able to add Pearson, Pettersson, and Coyle in one year...that's a pretty nice infusion of young-ish talent.

I'd rather keep Brass he's a good player and great value. Just add a winger to this team and we get Schultz back around the deadline.

I've been on the side of keeping Brass as well...but to get a player like Coyle, I think you do it. You get one additional year at a really good price, upside, may fit the system better.

I wouldn't want to trade Brass because its "addition by subtraction" ...that's nonsense

Gotta think about it like Brassard. Are you gonna put Tarasenko on the 1st PP? who you gonna take off? Horny? So if he isn't getting 1PP time, you're going to see a dip in points. So he could turn from a 60-70 point player to a 45-50 point player without significant PP time.

Guentzel does most of his damage at 5v5 and has 26 points in 29 games. Is Tarasenko really THAT much more dynamic at 5v5? I would argue they are even, and Guenztel is younger, and will cost less in his next contract.

He's just terrible. The coach is going to need to hang his skates up for him.

Being out played by one of the worst teams in the league......the Steelers must have spread their disease.

Not that the forwards helped much there, but why does Riikola need to sit every game while the Maatta and Oleksiak dumpster fire goes on and on?
