nope, we are going trade a 60+ point per year player for a guy who might end up with 60 career points. - PatC80
He's 1/3 of the way there 3 years in, he'll probably have more than 6 points in his career. |

So, he'll hit the 60 point mark by his 8th, 9th season in the league?

Crouse doesn't suck.
He's a guy with a 20g-60point upside that brings physicality, can kill penalties, and still skates well.
He is a top6 guy that won't be needing a 7+ million contract.
Chychrun is much better than you think as well.
If you don't watch any other teams apart from Leafs, you shouldn't call other team's players 'busts' or awful. - plantheparade
Lawson “12 Goals and 20 Points in 111 Games” Crouse. Is. Trash.
Unfortunately Chychrun is hurt more often than Tanev. I liked him in junior, but he’s not worth Nylander.
Your hate on Nylander existed well before his contract (which has a reasonable cap hit) or the holdout. |

Max may have worse trade proposals than UG. Although Nylander, Gardiner and a 1st for Karlsson and Rielly for Pietrangelo are pretty (frank)ing awful. |

but at least we would have Karlsson and Pietrangelo.
Instead of just getting us Lawson Crouse and a signed picture of Jacob Chychrun |

The club will have to move out salary. To me, the best way to retain the competitiveness would be to move Nylander. Not because he sucks, or is slow or any of that. Because he isn't really a big need anymore. They have talented young wingers with speed up the wazoo. That being the case, it would be sensible to keep guys who do more. Nylander is a great offensive threat to be sure, but other than that he doesn't do a whole lot out there. His offence would be more than enough if it was a big need for the club, but with all the guys they have it's somewhat redundant. Get a d man for him if possible. Kapanen may not bring quite the offensive flair as Nylander, but he does other things. He hits. He's a digger in the corner. He's slightly larger. He is a good penalty killer, and was IMO a better performer in the playoffs. This club is deep enough now they can weigh players in the balance of whether they bring several attributes to the table, rather than being in need in any one particular area right now, at least when it comes to their forward unit. |

they might have to, and that's fine... But can we at least wait until they actually do run into cap problems, before declaring they have cap problems?
