Craig Custance from an article in The Athletic id'd players from LA Kings that could be trade bait to jump-start a rebuild.

JASON BOTTERIL!!!...
wake-the-F-up if you are on here!!!
(God-forbid if you are Gerbe though, lol...couldn't resist..it is actually good to see you back Gerb's)
...
"Tyler Toffoli – At 26 years old, Toffoli is still fairly young and he’s really not the issue. But if you’re looking to get futures to reset the clock a bit, he might have to be part of the solution. He should be good for 25-30 goals per season and has a reasonable cap number of $4.6 million this season and next."

Jesus Christ!!!...there is your RW for life with Jack and Skin's!

Here’s a guy getting all fired up about a 26 year old guy making $4.6M a year, and how we HAVE to have him at a high price. Over his career, Toffoli has 235 points in 407 games = 0.58ppg

Sam - who is “unimpressive,” is younger, costs us nothing to get on the roster, and makes only $3.65M. He has 166 in 280 = 0.59ppg

Buffalo is self-loathing.

I see.
How crazy for me to suggest trading for a guy who can play as an ADDITION TO rather than trading away the beloved-by-many Samson.

I love how you interpret that suggestion as some kind of knock against Sam, rather than an endorsement to retain him.
You pre-disposition to hate on anything a couple of poster suggest is very funny!

Edit- here...dial-in the two players for a comparison to sooth your savage beast-like mentality.
If you need directions on how to use it, let me know...happy to help.

I'm sure Girgs will be qualified. If he can come up with 8-10 goals this year, I'd be ok with him going forward on the 23-man roster
- jcragcrumple

Heaven forbid your not Ok with girgs.

Hope he doesn't get stuck at 7 goals and play hard every night in a defensive role.

How's your boy erod doing?
The guy that is supposed to put up points?

Wow! That maybe a first on here...I give you cred.

I'm up in the air on him...he leaves me wanting more ... because I do think he can certainly deliver more ... not that his play is bad, it is far from it...I just think he can be closer to Jack's production (closer, closer than it has).

Pushing Sam down, especially next to Mitts is my desire...I think those two could be deadly together for years.

The + would be a 1st and probably more. Just a guess.

Still down?

Honestly, Samson is my guy. But if we want another center, if Mitts won't do for some time, trade Samson for RNH straight up, or with a small add, and save the picks. We can send a defender out for a pick and save a contract.

Edit: Not trying to jump on ya. Just think people are shooting for the stars with our TDL or trade targets.

- RhinoFan

Wow- trade Samson?

If you’re all that fired up about getting Toffoli why not put him on the 2d line and leave the chemistry of our 1st line undisturbed?

He does get a McDavid bump for sure, but I think he is pretty good. He has great hands and he has that special "vision" skill.

I just don't want to sell multiple pieces for a guy like that. If we truly need a center, shift Mitts to wing, trade Reinhart and move on.

- RhinoFan

What? "Trade reinhart and move on"

That leaves gordung and homie as his only fans left?

If the Blues truly are open for business, is going after Tarasenko, with his salary and how much I'm sure the Blues would want, worth it?

If Sam produced a little less, but did it on the second line, he'd be far more valuable to this team.

Really?
Thompson, with 3/4 of a season in games under his belt is producing like a poor 3rd liner. Maybe, when he improves his skating he flurishes as a solid 3rd-liner.
Guhle, quickly falling out of favor on a very, very stacked LhD. Expendable.
Blues 1st, that hurts for sure. Gotta give something
2020 2nd - hopefully somewhere around a 50sh selection...what, 15% chance of playing as a 3rd liner.
Berglund, cap dump..money in, money out. Dead weight.

I stand by it as it resolves a position of need.

Stats can be screwed.

Generally High salary's don't bring a huge return....

I see a Skinner-esque acquition in terms of production. Those 3 would absolutely fly out there...each could have 30G's
It allows Sam to play down one line ... and help Mitts produce more IMO to make a deadly 2nd line

Nor can he impact the game like a Barkov, Marner, or a Laine. Reinhart has a spot on the 2nd line on 25 out of the 30 teams in the NHL but if he’s your first line RW you’re not winning anything.

T.J. Oshie had 47 points in 74 games last year

only won the cup
