Just saw that the Oilers loss Klefbom for 'several weeks ' last night due to a hand injury. I know RNH has been in the rumor mill, but likely not someone we would go after. Now Puljujarvi might be more available and could benefit from a change of scenery. What LD would be an option to trade? Edmonton doesn't have much cap space, so it would have to be close to his $975k salary. Puljujarvi, 20 y/o RW who is an RFA at the end of the season.

No thanks

I need an established RW for Jack.

We might as well try to get Tarasenko out of St. Louis if we're giving up McCabe or more.

He's signed for 4 more years at 7.5 million and his NMC doesn't kick in until next year. St. Louis cannot figure it out and could use a serious shake-up. If we sent them Risto, Reinhart, Nylander, a 1st ++, we should absolutely consider this as a realistic opportunity and something that helps the team going forward. I don't see us dumping Okposo's salary so we have to give to get here.

That team is trending down and Tarasenko is in his prime. If we can somehow get him on Jack's RW and sign Skinner, we'd be set for the next 5+ years with a 1st line.

The + would be a 1st and probably more. Just a guess.

Still down?

Honestly, Samson is my guy. But if we want another center, if Mitts won't do for some time, trade Samson for RNH straight up, or with a small add, and save the picks. We can send a defender out for a pick and save a contract.

Edit: Not trying to jump on ya. Just think people are shooting for the stars with our TDL or trade targets.

I’d offer McCabe, Nylander, Blues 2nd rounder in 2021.

Anyone notice Jack Dougherty in the minors?

10gp 1g 4a 5pts, +11

He's the guy we got for Bapper if I remember correctly. Does anyone know about him? Is he a legit prospect or was that AHL transfers?

In football news, the Bills are favored this week. Most experts said they wouldn't be favored all year after week 2 against the Browns.

we didn't play the browns this year

I know it's Chia Pet...but I think that's a quick dial tone. No way to tell.

Even worse, I want to stick with Alex. He has been growing. You may be giving up a good one there IMO.

Ok well Sam can be the Landeskog of the line but I think the posters here are looking for the Rantenen. Patty Kane or Kessel would look great next to Jack. In an ideal world Sam is on our 2nd line.

Wasting you’re breath homie....

If he can’t skate like jack, shoot like Matthews, he’s a bum... cause he was drafted at #2

RNH isn't that great anyway. They probably value him above market value because of how things they are at forward. He's basically a 50-55 point guy without McDavid imo.

I'll take it.

A GM who ships out busted forwards into defensive depth is a smart GM.

Sam's skating certainly could be a liability as a 2C.
I wouldn't mind seeing him try again, this time with real wingers though.

I do think Phil and Botts are hoping Mitts starts generating scoring chances more, but are happy about his development as a 2 way player that he obviously has been focused on building.

I think you're gonna get more production from #1RW Sam than #2C Sam.

It's robbing Peter to pay Paul. Could be wrong, but Reinhart at center has never gone well

He does get a McDavid bump for sure, but I think he is pretty good. He has great hands and he has that special "vision" skill.

I just don't want to sell multiple pieces for a guy like that. If we truly need a center, shift Mitts to wing, trade Reinhart and move on.

Nor can he impact the game like a Barkov, Marner, or a Laine. Reinhart has a spot on the 2nd line on 25 out of the 30 teams in the NHL but if he’s your first line RW you’re not winning anything.

That's a gross overstatement, to say the least.

As far as RW's go, would Kasperi Kapanen be a good trade target due to the cap situation the Leafs are in and them just signing Nylander long term?

This made me smile:

At the time, the Sabres trailed by one goal. Three of Dahlin’s shots sailed wide of the net. The other was stopped by Kings goalie Calvin Petersen.

Dahlin ended the power play by leaning on his stick and snapping it half.

After Dahlin broke his stick, Rasmus Ristolainen joked with him on the bench, trying to keep the mood light and ensure he remained focused.

“I don’t even remember what he said,” Dahlin said, “but he made me feel good again. … I wasn’t angry after he joked.”

He said that helped a great deal.

“That’s what teammates are for,” Dahlin said. “When one man is down, make them happy again.”
