Coyotes moving to Houston?Rockets owner met with Gary Bettman about it. Had preliminary talks about buying and relocating them.

How does Dallas do in that area? Would another team in TX be any better than Arizona?

On the plus side the 2nd line had 2 goals last night.
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

It's funny, 22, 71 and 28 got a few O zone starts in the 3rd too. Housley was definitely trying to pump some more out of that line

Seems fair. I think Sobotka is serviceable. 3rd line center is probably where he slots in and given his contract, that's not bad at all IMO.

But yeah, we need to find a taker for one of Scandella, Berglund or Okposo. The cap isn't a huge issue, but I want to add, not just maintain as you suggest.

- RhinoFan

Sobotka is fine as a 3C if that’s the line we are using defensively, but we need some offense out of that group
Not a bad player, just not creating anything offensively at all
So if he stays in the top9,
then i want him on the wing
Otherwise, he should mix in on line4

Berglund should get another shot in the top9 to see if he can score some goals
He did it last year for StL, and the year before
So even though he’s SLOW,
and has been a BUST,
I’d give him another shot at producing before he’s permanently on line4 while we look to dump him to anyone who’s willing
Again,
not a bad player. Just not remotely filling the role we need him to.

Well they did score a couple goals,
so I’d say it was warranted

we will know a lot about this team from the next 11 games

yotes
@caps
@bruins
panthers
@caps
ducks
@blues
bruins
islanders
panthers
@bruins

5 tough games
if they want to have a shot to get a top 3 spot, have to come out ahead in the bruins series, and win the easier games on this schedule

if they get 15 points out of 22, I will be very happy
if they get 10 points out of 22, they really are only a fringe playoff team

The thing that is killing the Yotes is the location of the arena. Nobody from the East Valley wants to drive out there fighting traffic after work. You are hard pressed to get to the game on time and you get home pretty damn late. If the arena was in Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe or even back in downtown PHX they would sell alot more tickets.

maybe...who knows?

he has shown those abilities throughout the years, but he's had hands of stone on display more often then not...

we'll see how this unfolds

3 1/2 hours between the 2 cities, so that won't be an issue

houston has always drawn well in the ahl and had a history with the aeros in the whl

http://www.hockeydb.com/n...ce/att_graph.php?tmi=6119

IMO they would do great

I wonder how serious these talks actually are, or if the Rockets owner is just throwing poop out there to see if it sticks.

Houston is the 3rd largest population in the US
Too far away from Dallas for ppl to drive to games unless they’re spending the weekend or something
I think it’s like a 4 hour drive

I’d guess that any Stars fans in Houston would adopt a hometown hockey team
And the casual fans down there would obviously fall in line

Lots of $$$ down there too
Houston has been a target of the NHL supposedly
Some have speculated that moving ARZ to the central made sense bc they could potentially relocate to either Houston or KC

The tweet i saw was from yesterday from a guy with FOX that says the owner of the Rockets met with Bettman, so maybe things are picking up steam?

The Forbes article showed that the debt on the team is higher than their value. I'm sure the current owner(s) are looking to do something

That goal by Girgs was one of the best all year for us
He’s got more speed & offensive talent than Larsson too
So i could see Girgs sticking around a bit,
while u probably get your wish and we move on from Larsson after this year

Right...
but they can’t justify a new arena in a better location
Whoever planned that really dropped the ball
I’ve got Family in Tempe and Scottsdale,
and they always go to the Sabres game out there... but they usually take a half day at work, and sometimes they take off the next day
They say it’s a big pain in the ass to go to the games
Even though u can get cheap tix,
they say it’s just not worth the hassle except for the odd game here or there
And they’re all pretty big hockey fans

Probably exploratory talks
There’s also been some chatter here & there that Houston could be the next expansion team
With the NHL eventually looking to go to 36teams

Oh god, I hope not. I think 32 is going to water it down enough. Until Bettman is gone and they get someone in who actually knows how to market their young stars, they need no more expanding.

I'm sure Girgs will be qualified. If he can come up with 8-10 goals this year, I'd be ok with him going forward on the 23-man roster
