Don’t forget Sikura, and probably Mitchell or Beaudin make it too.
- Butcherboy66

Maybe, but I would like to see a little more of them before I pencil them in.

No. A fair trade would have been two firsts and their best prospect / entry level contract player. Not some third liner and a collection of surplus junk.

Horrid trade for a player of that calibre.

- fattybeef

We obviously won't agree, but 2 NHL players, 2 prospects who are still young enough to develop, a 1st, a 2nd, and probably another 2nd, still isn't "nothing".

I'm not advocating they trade Keith and I'm not sure they will want to move him (given the looming possibility of recapture penalties coming back on the team) but he would get them something for sure. You aren't gonna get a sure-fire superstar in return, but you get building blocks 100%.

Fortin is where he belongs right now.

I hope AA is ok. We need him to pick up some trade value before the deadline. (Yes I know he has a NTC.)

See ya Rutta/Manning/Davidson (one or all 3).

Saad - Toews - Kahun
ADB - Strome - Kane
Perlini -Kampf - Sikura
Martinsen - Kruger - Hayden

Keith - Joki
Gus - Murphy
Dahstrom - Seabs

Also, I do appreciate the criticism towards Jeremy Colliton.

I think he will be continually judged as time goes on as his tenure here.

It is his job to get this thing somewhat turned around. What I don't think is fair is the team he's been handed however. That's on Stan.

- Justin Lowe

How can he turn a team that is so egregiously bereft of talent?

Yes it is the exact way to fix the problem. When something is a huge dumpster fire you put it out you don’t just watch it burn.
- Z3Hawk

Well...firing everyone COULD "put out the fire." It could also pour gasoline on it.

AEL said he thought Dahlstrom would be the first of the dmen recalled. He also said Sikura would be the first of the forwards. I figured him as well.
See AEL, 2 for 2, on the same day, don't underestimate yourself.

AEL knows his Icehogs. I'm thinking Dahlstrom might be a short term call up, if Forsling isn't too badly dinged up, unless there are dominoes in motion.

That gives the Hawks 157 defensemen on the team right now if my math is right.

He's in a similar situation as Jared Bednar in his first year of Colorado.

At least all these young amazing players dont have that mean bully Q holding them back from making mistakes. They're allowed to go out there and just have fun!

Now if they can only get rid of that jerk Keith who refuses to go along with this developmental team, they can play Dahlstrom more.

- PatShart

I never understood the "Q doesn't play young guys" angle. Too many examples of the contrary.

On Keith, I wouldn't argue that he is still their best d-man, but on this team with what they have left and where they are going, does it make sense to keep him? Putting aside the likelihood or ability to actually move him, is it better for the future of the team to have him burn here for the next couple of years, or move him and get some significant assets back?

It's on Stan, but it's also on the players, especially the NHL vets. They haven't lost their skills completely. There were a few games after Q's termination where they were (understandably?) not giving their all. At this point, you'd expect personal pride and competitiveness would have kicked in. We see it in periods 2-3, but where is it in period 1?

This team has been on a steady decline the last 3 years. We all saw it coming.
Stan stood with the same formula but expecting different results.
It's not a surpise we are here, although was not expecting dead last in the NHL.
Maybe this will speed things up as far as making wholesale changes?
Something has to give in a major way, sooner than later I would think.

Hextall as hockey President hunter or zito as gm bowman Mcego maciassic show the door along with the scounting staff. Wait until the tdl if rhe hawks are going trade keith and AA or at the draft. Bowman whether gets fired soon or after the season should be able to make anymore decisions at all. If bowman is back next season that is a middle finger to all the hawks fans and the uc will be continue to lose fans and become a ghost town. The only way imo this gets better is if Rocky cleans house will he we'll see.

JL, what do you mean by this? JC has his hands tied by having Barry Smith and Don Granato forced on him. Are we really seeing what JC can do as a coach?

Thanks, Breadman. Wasn’t hard to predict but appreciate the shout out.

You have a knack for remembering what different posters predict then follow up when things happen one way or another. Kudos on that Jedi skill.

I'm not saying you get the same return for Keith, but SJ gave up a lot for a guy they might not even retain. A guy who "used to be" the best offensive Dman and is inconsistent in his own end. Karlsson has been so over-hyped and Ottawa cashed in rather than lose him for nothing. Great trade for them.
- breadbag

I agree with you here BB. I'd take Burns, Hedman, Subban, Jones over Karlsson

Thanks, Breadbag. I seem to be thanking bread people today.

As Justin mentioned, Dahlstrom’s recall could be a matter of seeing what they have in him. This could be his final year to prove he can cut it in the NHL, at least as a Blackhawk, given he’s in his 4th season with the Hogs. If he doesn’t prove his worth, he could be moving on like Svedberg this past summer.

Dahlstrom is a defensive defenseman and has more experience than similar prospects like Carlsson and Hillman so his recall also makes sense from that angle.

I agree. I'm not gonna completely give JC a pass on everything, but it's really hard to judge him as a Coach when he's been handed the keys to a car with the transmission going out and both front tires going flat after taking one of "Uncle Stan's shortcuts" and Co-Pilot Q got shoved out the car...

In all seriousness, I wanna see how he can do with players that want it more and personel wise that fits what he wants to do with his system and THEN see how he does as a Coach. People can say what they want, and he very well could be a little too green for the NHL RIGHT NOW, BUT everyone was really liking what he was doing in Rockford last year and he was helping develop the kids and building a good culture there when he had a handle on things. I still have belief he can be a good Coach and could help build the next wave for this team.

As much as I hate to saw, I think the time to trade both Crawford and Keith is coming this year OR this Offseason. Both are gonna go down as all time great Blackhawks and should retire with the team as such, but I feel both of these guys have A LOT still left in the tank and could help a team take the next step. Both have high value (unlike Seabrook with his HUGE contract on our books for forever) and could fetch a high return and clear about 11M in cap space for the Offseason to get more talent around the ENTIRE team.

Whether people like it or not, Kane and Toews are gonna be with this team until the end so I don't see that happening.

It's obvious that the Hawks made a HUGE mistake letting Q go and keeping Bowman around as many of us had said. Hard to blame a Coach (especially a future HOF likely top 3 all time) for the team playing poorly when he's been given next to nothing to support the Core of this team and has lost key player after key player after key player and was expected to get the same results. This has to do with the mismanage of the Cap and players that Bowman has done the past several years. Has he made good moves, of course no one can deny that, but the misses have been much more recent and much more hurtful to this team and for that it SHOULD cost him his job.

First step to TRY and fix things here, IMO, is to fire Bowman and hire an interim GM for the rest of the year. I would prefer an interim GM so that in the Offseason we can perhaps get a new President (PLEASE SANTA GIVE US STEVIE Y! LOL) to hire his own GM and go from there, but idk if Rocky is gonna wanna clear house completely like that. We'll see though
