The hawks aren’t blocking shots from the point cause they’re not even covering the points, period. At least 3 times in the past 2 games an opposing point an has been left wide open to blast one past crow, who is usually screened by our #7 or #2. In fact , last night seabs even scored the goal.......for the jets.

To make the games more fun to watch. Tap pause on your remote when the opponent is in the Hawks zone. It is incredible how often you see two defensemen in the same corner. Also as likely is that one of the points is totally uncovered. Eddie O pointed this out in the telecast last night. It is unbelievable the positioning by the whole team in the defensive zone.

Side note - I think Hayden thinks he is a center. Because he is always in the high slot in our defensive zone, instead of covering the point or point.

Sikura and Dahlstrom recalled from the Rock

AA to IR and Fortin back to the Rock

- gazza53

That gives the Hawks 157 defensemen on the team right now if my math is right.

I was paying attention to the forwards in the defensive zone, and what jumped out to me was the fact that Strome and perlini don't seem to know where to be and what to do. They were skating all over the place, and not covering the point guys., To me, this says that Colliton doesn't know how to teach the forwards how to play defense. The only forwards playing any defense are the ones that learned under Q.

I would have left Sikura in Rockford rather than expose him to the mess the Hawks are right now.

I've not been impressed with Dahlstrom, hopefully he proves me wrong.

The talent/ability gap in the NHL has closed considerably in the NHL over the past 10-12 years. With the veteran presence that still exists on this team, to give up the first goal 11 straight games, and the first 2 9 out of 11 is a clear indication that this team is not prepared to play and has given up completely. Bowman and his little coach Faunterloy need to be gone now. I realize teams "ebb & flow" success wise over time, and 09-15 was a blast. However, after going down 3-zip last night, I'm done. I do not need the aggravation of watching the ineptitude this team puts on display. Thanks for the memories Blackhawks. I'll check back about 2021 to see how the new regime is doing.

Good stuff, sorry Fortin, I still like him, but he has to get it together down there.

How exactly did Ottawa get nothing? They got plenty for an over-rated Karlsson.

Tierney is a middle 6 C that wins his share of draws and contributes. He is only 24 and has probably his peak years just to come.

Demelo is just 25 and can play a decent #4. Adds a little offense and is pretty steady.

Josh Norris - 1st Round pick who is only 19 and still developing.

Rudolfs Balcers - 5th rounder who is 21 and putting up some okay AHL numbers. 23 goals and 48 points last year in the AHL and has 10 goals and 8 assists so far this season.

Plus they also get a 1st round pick and a second round pick.

Additionally they have a good chance at an extra conditional pick (2 conditional picks, but unlikely they'd get both)

Ottawa is rebuilding and didn't want big salary coming back. They got a lot for Karlsson. Still a chance SJ might just lose him for nothing since they still haven't resigned him.

Karlsson is the best defender in the league though I'd accept PK Subban asalso a correct answer.

Ottawa got San Joses surplus junk and the Hawks would get less for a guy whose 7 years older and a step slower.

Theyd have to pay someone to take Seabrook.

Taylor Hall got Adam freakin Larsson. Woof.

Patrick Kane maybe gets you a Dougie Hamilton or Seth Jones type straight up but what team is going to flip that back and in a one for one swap who the heck on this roster is going to score.

They are going to be bad the rest of the year. Move an insignificant contract or two and hope they get a top 3 pick and that Boqvist and Beaudin are the next Keith and Seabrook.

At least all these young amazing players dont have that mean bully Q holding them back from making mistakes. They're allowed to go out there and just have fun!

Now if they can only get rid of that jerk Keith who refuses to go along with this developmental team, they can play Dahlstrom more.

Just stopping back in here... wow. People are grumpy 'round here.

For those popping in from other teams... if you read my stuff, you'll know that I (and most on here) are SUPER grateful for the 3 recent cups.

This Blackhawks team is now not very good. I personally am covering this team from the perspective of "what went wrong" and "how can it get better".

I'm probably one of the most optimistic bloggers in Blackhawks nation for the most part.

With all of that being said, there are some great conversations happening as well. We'll get through this together gang!

I'm surprised he is getting a shot, but I suspect we're going to see some movement soon with a trade/demotion from the current Hawks D, so this could be the Hawks re-looking at what they have in Dahlstrom.

I'm not saying you get the same return for Keith, but SJ gave up a lot for a guy they might not even retain. A guy who "used to be" the best offensive Dman and is inconsistent in his own end. Karlsson has been so over-hyped and Ottawa cashed in rather than lose him for nothing. Great trade for them.

Sikura and/or Dahlstrom may very well be up to showcase a few games at the NHL level.

If they're plugged into the lineup immediately, I'd check to find out what scouts are in attendance

No. A fair trade would have been two firsts and their best prospect / entry level contract player. Not some third liner and a collection of surplus junk.

Horrid trade for a player of that calibre.

The Hawks started 5 players last night that should not be on the ice (or in the NHL). You cannot win when 25% of your team is not NHL worthy.
Fortin - needs AHL time
Kunitz - waive / retire
Kruger - retire or head back to Sweden
Rutta - waive and send to AHL or let him go back to Europe
Manning - in the press box as the 7th defenseman

The Hawks started Hayden on the top line with Toews. I like Haydens energy and hustle, but he should either play in Rockford or on the 4th line. Not on a top line with Toews.

They are better with AA (concussion protocol), Forsling (injured) and Gus (Illness). I expect AA to be moved at the deadline or before the draft.

Strome, Kahun, Kampf, and Joki are showing they belong in the NHL.

One or two of the young defenders should be able to make the jump next year.

One of Delia, Forsberg, Lankinen, or Nalimov should replace Ward next year.

The Hawks will have a very good 1st round pick that should make the team.

The Hawks have cap space to add a stud top 6 forward and/or a top 4 defender.

Panarin - Hughes - Kane
Saad - Toews - Free agent
ADB - Strome - Kahun
Hayden - Kamp - ??

Keith - Joki
free agent - Boqvist
Forsling - Seabs (if or because his contract is unmovable)
Gus

Crow
(Delia, Forsberg, Lankinen, Nalimov)

Don’t forget Sikura, and probably Mitchell or Beaudin make it too.

Also, I do appreciate the criticism towards Jeremy Colliton.

I think he will be continually judged as time goes on as his tenure here.

It is his job to get this thing somewhat turned around. What I don't think is fair is the team he's been handed however. That's on Stan.

The suggestion that McD allowed the firing of Q to linger just to sell Season Tickets is outrages ,and if true should lead to his dismissal .I am sure he will never admit it ,but it looks like that may have been the plan

AEL said he thought Dahlstrom would be the first of the dmen recalled. He also said Sikura would be the first of the forwards. I figured him as well.
See AEL, 2 for 2, on the same day, don't underestimate yourself.

Fortin is where he belongs right now.

I hope AA is ok. We need him to pick up some trade value before the deadline. (Yes I know he has a NTC.)

See ya Rutta/Manning/Davidson (one or all 3).

Saad - Toews - Kahun
ADB - Strome - Kane
Perlini -Kampf - Sikura
Martinsen - Kruger - Hayden

Keith - Joki
Gus - Murphy
Dahstrom - Seabs
