Second worse? There are a whole lot of worse trades. Saad may not be Panarin, but he is far from a bust.
How about the Esposito, Roenick, Chelios, Belfour, Hasek trades to name just a few that were way worse. - TheTrob
Hands down the Phil Esposito trade was not only the worst in Hawks' history- but one of the worst in Chicago sports history ... you can flip a coin with that and the Cubs trading Lou Brock to the Cardinals.

Manning isn’t good but at least he plays with passion and fire, unlike 90% of the roster (Kane included who has been a complete dog without the puck the last month). - EnzoD
Players like Manning are why they spot two goals every game... |

Oh stop, we traded away the 6th best goal and 10th best point scorer of all time in Phil Esposito. That is a landslide for decades to come
Not trading away a guy who was 20th in points scoring last year - Stan_Bowman
That Esposito trade can only be topped by the Cubs letting go of Lou Brock ! |

Not surprised, just posting. Panarin has been a topic of many discussions. - I Am The Breadman
If Panarin wants to come to Chicago and doesn't my guess
it would be on mcd not wanting a hockey player of bad
character, the all important character issue is paramount
to mcd.
If LA doesn''t get Nylander ++++++++ for Doughty they'd
be crazy. |

Agreed. But Seabrook gets burned just as often if not more..how about Kyle Connor spinning him in circles like a top? Or how about Keith getting walked to the slot by Tyler Myers who clanged a backhand off the crossbar?
Seabs and Keith are not very good anymore and I agree with your earlier comments on the realistic return on a Keith trade being 2nd round pick + mid-grade prospect. |

They all get burned because the play is their zone the whole game and they are playing man to man defense which tires out players much faster.
No forecheck = chasing the entire game, every game. |

" So we're totally in on Panarin! []
- resqmed99
Does the opposite tend to happen with an EK rumor? "
I understand the sentiment to the main pages trade 'rumours'... however if I was Columbus GM what does Chicago have that I would want?
If Chicago can go there, it would probably only be as a UFA... and that was what the 'totally in' thing was about.
I'd love to see Panarin as a Hawk again, but given the culture shift within the team (and that is the only way that I can understand it ...) - I don't understand why he would want to.

No - Brock was pretty much an unknown commodity - Broglio (the return) was a 20-game winner who was 18-8 ERA 2.99 the year before the trade. Looked like a good deal for the Cubs.
Esposito was pretty much a known commodity - 20+ goals / 60 points. He wasn't what he became, but the promise was there based on his history.
The other terrible Chicago trade was the Cardinals moving Ollie Matson to the Rams for 9 players who never really did anything for the Big Red here.
But - all things considered - I'd say the Esposito trade was by far the worst trade in Chicago sports history.

Does anyone have a sound rationale why Colliton was not allowed to pick his assistants, but Stan has said at the end of the year he will be able to pick his assistants? What gives?
It makes no sense and it made walking into this situation 1000 times worse.
If he can pick them at the end of the year, why not let him from the get go? - hereismike1
it's all about tanking for Jack Hughes

Who say's no first...
Tor:
Keith
CHI:
Kapanen
Tor 1st or 2nd (depending on how valued Kapanen is; hard to see him not getting an offer sheet this offseason though)
Hainsey (If in season, buyout to resign for the min for the rest of the year)
Brown (Either ends up a 4th liner, in the AHL, or is a buyout at worst an expiring contract to help the cap going forward) - Savetheembers33
Toronto would never do this trade.
With Keith, I think you have to look for cash strapped contenders.
Avs
Keith
Blackhawks
Matt Nieto
and their first round pick from the Sens.

I wonder if Vladdy is traded, if Panarin would look to go to that team? Talk about 2 killer wingers on 1 line. |

Now that is something I could see changing the likelihood of Panarin signing with the Hawks. If a team like say the Islanders can swing a trade for Vladdy in season and then Panarin goes to FA it'd be very interesting to see where he would sign |

I think he's already a step up over Allen. I think they just lost Chad Johnson to waivers to Ana. |

OK Rutherford -
Saad, Keith and Crawford for Parayko, Tarasenko and Fitzpatrick. Not that 2 or 50 would consent, but seems fair. |

With the way JC likes to double shift Kane - push him a little harder:
Saad-Toews-Kane
DeBrincat-Strome-Kane
Kahun-Kampf-Kane
Sikura-Kruger-Kane

Islanders also have free agents to resign. I know Panarin is open to NY, but I think he said Rangers. I know you just meant it as speculation. |

Gustafsson out sick. Sikura and Dahlstrom will be in the lineup tonight vs. Pittsburgh. Crawford in net.
Kunitz and Jan Rutta are out. |
