Not saying NYI gives up Dobson, Wilde, and Bellows...but those are the kind of assets LA would covet. Meanwhile the roomer suggests it's the NYI forwards who need new contracts??

I only want to keep Lee. Nelson and Eberle can go.

Red Wings have Green, Dekeyser, Daley, Ericsson all returning next season. All with NTC's. Four veterans. Eating up $18M. But they want to add Doughty to mentor the one remaining spot on the blueline? Makes very little sense. Especially when LA says they aren't interested in Mantha, AA, and insist on Larkin. Zero chance.

I only see NYI as trade partners of the 3 EK mentioned. They have plenty of prospects to choose from. Hi whalstrom. Yes I know I doubt they part with him. But like the other guy said, Dobson, Wilde, and bellows would have to be starting point

Dobson and Wilde would be tough to move but if you are bringing back Doughty you still have Pulock and Leddy on D and Toews in the minors. Isles have a lot of D prospects and can afford to move some.

Trading Doughty is the worst thing that LA could do. Their D is nothing without him. Even if trading him guaranteed Jack Hughes, it probably wouldn't be worth it, since we've seen the limited results of having superstar forwards without a solid defense behind them. If Blake thinks that Muzzin will be able to take Doughty's place, he's very much mistaken.

You are ignoring the return the Kings would get for Doughty. No doubt an up and coming top Dman. The Kings are going to get a great return for Quick and Doughty. They can sell him or keep him on as a mentor. Either option is fine. Depends how they want to work the rebuild. Kings might not even need a full rebuild. Their big name guys are only in their early 30s. Still a good 6-9 years for them. People put too much stock in age. A lot of the top players in the league play at the top level even in their late 30s. Some even play through their 40s. Jagr played until he was like 47 and was a top 6 player.

Let’s see the leaf fans lowball a doughty trade.

My guess brown and a1st gets it done in their minds. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

You forgot to include 20% retained on Doughty's contact and the token 6th rounder to even the deal.

Leafs can't take Doughty's CAP hit. So regardless of how amazing it would be to acquire him, it ain't happening.

LA needs to rebuild? No? That involves getti g rid of assets they still have for prospects and picks not roster players. The object ist loose for awhile. Taking on a contract that will be bad in 3 to 4yrs for the recieving team. Dougherty will have to aprove were he goes. Not an easy trade to make. Anything is possible. Rebuilds are painfull. It takes guts to do. Trading great players for results you wont see for years. Got to go through years of disappointment as well. Look at some cup champs and to a lesser extent tampa.as a leaf fan my team is maybe about only half way there. Ask the sabres about the effect of rushing. They are only now just starting to recover from that.

Just have to give up Matthews. According to some FACTS being spewed yesterday, Matthews has degenerative shoulders. As everyone knows.

Agree. Leafs are absurd. So are Wings. NYI makes sense, but only for the assets I noted and not this idea about forwards needing big contracts. And Quick netting a 1st
plus is also absurd. Maybe you get a pair of 2nds, one that upgrades to a 1st based on Cup success.

Tampa might challenge the 62-win record. They are unstoppable. I doubt they make a massive move like this. Why mess with a good thing? Oh if I'm LA I take your offer for Quick. In an instant.

NFW...despite as great Quick has been in the past, I'm not giving up Konecny. Plus, Quick is just coming off of a significant injury.

With Bob expected to get in the ballpark of 10.5 milly, Pricer's contract will be a steal in a few years with the cap going up

When is the last time the NHL has seen a Norris dman like Doughty traded with 8+ years left on contract?

The Subban/Weber swap obviously, but that doesn't help us figure out the value.

I would imagine a young, impact roster player, top prospect, 1st rounder, conditional 2nd would put a team in the conversation. It would definitely need to be a massive haul to pry him away.

Hhhmmmmm, I think the return for Quick (once good - but not for a long long time) will not be that huge. Definitely not a 1st. He comes to the new team carrying his plastic bag of vertigo wafers and a band aid. The time is long past him being remotely as good as Quick of yesteryear.

As for the Flyers - yeah they need another IR ranger.
