I like Tulo
- senstroll

What I’m gonna miss most about Tulo is how he used a floppy worn-out pos glove and misses like a million ground balls.

What the hell?

I swear I just saw something on twitter with the GM saying he expects tulo to be in a jays uniform next year.

- bryant

Definitely not in the plans... Atkins said he wants Gurriel to play SS this year.

Now watch him have a great year on another team.

something like the Karlsson trade.
- zazzle

Petro has two years on his deal.

People don’t realize that adds a lot of value.

Just look at the price paid for Shattenkirk for one playoff run.

Wow, being released is incredible. I guess that ankle didn't heal.

He's owed US$38M, which the Jays will pay out. Damn.

Lol..

No. (frank) off. Leafs aren’t trading Loljegren (or Sandin)

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Meh, I could see the Leafs trading Liljegren if it brings back the right player.

There's someone really smart on here that tells us that anyone should be available for a trade if it makes the team better.

Then we usually laugh and tell him to shut the (frank) up.

SportsNet even has an article up about it, thanks to Kypreos.

TOR: Pietrangelo, Bortuzzo
STL: Johnsson, Liljegren, Zaitsev, 1st round pick

Would you do it?

Rielly- Pietrangelo
Gardiner- Ozhiganov
Dermott- Bortuzzo

- PatC80

Yup. Sign me up.

Johnson or Kap will have to be traded anyways. I could live with Z’s contract being elsewhere. A late 1st rounder is nothing to cry about. Liljegren is the only piece that makes me sad.

But you have to give to get.

Any way you slice it, the Leafs are going to have to decide between Lillybust and Sandin for the Seattle expansion draft.

So just one extra thing to think about when deciding what you are willing to give up in a trade.

I thought they could only release once he was back to health and cleared to play. I don't think you can release an injured player.

of course, well unless you are Matthews or Marner. I just can’t see any realistic trade that any team offers and the leafs say yes to.
BINGO!

Yes, you can - just not during the season. They are still paying him after all.

What you can't do is trade an injured player. I find it impossible to believe that Tulo wouldn't have trade value if he was healthy. Someone would take a chance on him, he was an elite shortstop.

Exactly.

And if it makes an easier decision for he expansion draft and brings back a really good player...why not ?

A contract is a contract, it needs to be paid. He didn't resign, he was fired.

He does become a FA, and the Jays are on the hook for his contract minus what he gets on another MLB team if he signs. It's possible he signs a league minimum deal somewhere - I would imagine that someone would take the chance if he's healthy enough.
