Seriously wondering what people's thoughts would be if:

To Chicago

Jake Gardiner (resigns LTD)
Nikita Zaitsev

To Toronto

Duncan Keith
Brent Seabrook (2m retained)

- AlfieisKing

Seriously wondering why a Senators fan is proposing Leafs-Blackhawks trades.

Oh, wait, I just remembered: the Leafs have crawled so far in your head you can't shake it.

On a somewhat related note, I've come to the realization that the Leafs being this good (relative to the past 40 years) has made me care a little less about each individual game.

We lost on Saturday night. 5-10 years ago, I would have agonized over it, because dammit, we needed to scratch and claw for every two points.

Now, I can calmly rationalize that we aren't going to win every game, so frank it, drink up and start focusing on the next game.

- Atomic Wedgie

Yep, even babs was relaxed and telling reporters you can’t win every game and that you aren’t going to be at your best every game.

Just relax and enjoy the show...if the Leafs have a bad game then move on to the next one.

The Coyotees are finished. Too much debt and no chance of a new arena. Any other league they would have moved the team. Betteman is too afraid to admit it was a massive error leaving a Canadian city for a southern U.S market.

John Tavares leaving for his hometown and Matthews doing the same are so drastically different. The Leafs won't be in another city in 4-5 years and are a contender.

- RogerRoeper

Can we please stop with the "Bettman is the great Satan who hates Canada" narrative?

It's tired, boring, factually incorrect and intellectually lazy.

The Jets and the Nordiques both moved because they were losing money hand over fist. Both teams were being sold. Both teams could not find a local buyer.

After the two teams moved, Bettman set up the Canadian Franchise Assistance Fund, to help Canadian teams struggling with the low Canadian dollar. Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa all tapped into the fund. I have no problem arguing that the latter three would no longer be in the league if it wasn't for this Bettman initiative.

Seriously, Canada, get over yourselves.

Coyotees are cheating to reach the cap floor. This should not be allowed.

Right after Marleau goes there to retire ...we'll demand change!

I never said Betteman hates Canada, I just said based on his odd reluctance to move any team compared to what a more succesful league does (NFL), it does come across as him not being able to admit defeat.

I'm told that the rentals are slim pickings this year. If the Canes and Leafs had some good dialogue during the WN signing then maybe they keep talking. Canes have depth on RD and the Leafs have scoring.

Kapanen for a Faulk or Pesce ....maybe? I don't know ...

I still think they'd prefer a veteran rental.

Absolutely. Leafs games don't matter until April. They'll play well some times, they'll play poorly sometimes, they'll look interested, they'll look disinterested. They'll mail it in, they'll pad their stats. None of it matters until April.

Then our season starts and we'll see how they'll do.

As much as we all hate Bettman...I hate him too.

But he has done a really good job of growing the game of hockey past Canada.

Canes are going to need to open up a spot on D for Adam Fox next year anyway.

I honestly can’t figure out why he wanted to be President.

The only thing I can think of is Putin has kompormat on him. Because there’s no way he’s happy, no matter how delusional he might be.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

He didn't want to be President, and never thought he would win. That's exactly WHY his campaign was so connected to the Russians - to try to max out the $$$ and Russian business opportunites post-election. When he actually won, the Russians put him over the barrel, big time.

Kapanen’s value has skyrocketed.

Pesce’s has decreased

He’s been meh in a sheltered role this season.
