Ya people keep saying for the leafs to be patient for years and then drool over how good tampa is
Tampa has made bold moves which has helped them become the great team they are now. Along with some patience and great drafting. - Fakepartofme
But but but......i've been waiting since about 1975. How much patience does one need. |

Z and Willie for Doughty - Garnie
Any of you guys want doughty s contract in a couple years? Weber ....... got to think long term. Sorry nothing comes quickly in the nhl except disaster. Look at cup winners and teams like tampa that are probably gonna win one. Cups come to those that wait and dont make questionable moves. Leafs are still learning. And you need not look past last Saturday to know that. |

I'm more worried about tonight
I don't know if I'd trade for Doughty....if he came cheap maybe.

Most cup winners from the last few years eventually had to make bold moves to add an impact player to help them win a cup.
Think Kessel, Oshie, Hossa...
Tampa just made a pretty big trade for Miller and Mcdonagh... traded 3rd overall Jonathan Drouin for Sergachev (I STILL LIKE THAT TRADE!)
Sure you can stay the course but sometimes it makes sense to make a splash to take it "to the next level"
If the Leafs somehow added a Doughty, a Weber or a Pietrangelo, they'd be that much better. |

You see were not being conservative gets ya. Ask buffalo fans where all those trades got them a few years back. Now they are behind the leafs rebuild. And to add. Brown is not junk. Theres a reason alot of teams would want him off your list. Need to still be patient. Pains not over yet. This is the real hard part of the rebuild. - ziffles
They were bad trades.
Look at how the recent good trade has impacted their standings |

I'd say adding Skinner looks pretty damn good for them right now.
They got him for cheap too. |

I'm a little bit puzzled by this narrative that the Bruins completely own the Leafs.
This year, the Bruins have beaten the Leafs twice in Boston. Toronto has beaten the Bruins once in Toronto.
Last year, the playoff series went to 7 games. We were winning the 7th game.
The two years previous to this year, we have beaten Boston in regular season head-to-head meetings.
We lost one game last week 6-3.
We are still on pace for a 112 point season.
Leafs Nation just needs to franking relax. |

Except in a cap world, there is no way we can afford Doughty.. Pietrangelo, we can, well at least for now..

Z and Willie for Doughty - Garnie
That a huge chunk of change going to Doughty for 8 years.
It would be really tough to add him to the team with most of the cap $$ going to Matthews and Marner next year. |

We can afford to take on Doughty, if that private investor out in Arizona does pony up that extra $15M per year for 7 years. |

It depends on who AP agrees to be traded to and if he has specifically asked for a trade. We are all assuming that this has happened and if it has he has handcuffed his GM he may have no other choice. Either way if they want Johnsson they can have him and a pick. If they want Kap then the pick becomes later.
- So Alex what do you want to stay after next year?
- 8x12.5
- OK, so I see you have a NMC
- I'm changing my name to Snakengelo *Waves middle finger*

It won't happen, but Doughty makes less then Z and Willie combined I think. |

If only it was that easy.
Pietrangelo: "I only want to play for the Leafs"
GM Doug Armstrong: "Ok, I'll contact Kyle Dubas"
