Okay, so let's say he waives his NTC, and 2-3 contending teams are interested. What would you like to see as a return?
- boilermaker100

picks. 1st/2nd rounders. Top 3 prospect, i guess.

What happened to Seabrok?. Right now Perlini hanging on to a roster spot by the skin of his teeth. Not sure if Barrat will leave PSU at end of his season, and if he does is he ready for the NHL?

This assuming that somebody takes Seabrook's contract, opening up the cap space to sign Panarin? Good luck with that.

Hopefully some solution is found for the Seabrook contract, either package him with another piece to a different team, or buy him out. It only saves us $4MM over 5 years to buy him out, but what else can you do if no one will take him?
https://www.capfriendly.c...calculator/brent-seabrook

I thought Seabrook lost enough weight this offseason to make a dent, but it hasn't done much. He gets pyloned almost every night, it hurts to say it but he's lost 2 steps. I will always love the guy but we can't win with him.

I'm pencilling in Barratt as one of the next prospect forwards. Who knows, it could be Wise or someone else getting a shot.

Seriously. The Hawks have started their rebuild. They still need to keep some fans placated with "names". But make no mistake, the rebuild began two seasons ago, Its why they have drafted D-men pretty exclusively in the 1st 2 rounds.
- Elbows15

I agree with you that the rebuild has already started, but if that's the case, can you explain why they have focused so much on d-men in the early rounds in the past few drafts? I would think you would just take best available.

Pray to the CBA gods that there are compliance buyouts when the new CBA is signed....or that Seattle takes him in the expansion draft??

I think a fair package would be Zaitsev, Brown, a 2nd rounder and a prospect in our top 10.

If hypothetically Keith is available.

This seems like a very bad deal for the Hawks.

Start with a 1st and we can go from there...

Dead Last. With all the damage mgt did to this poor team we will probably be bottom two or three for the next several years. I hope Wirtz sees this. I blame him.

Past performance does not guarantee lemming loyalty, nor should it. Meaning - if you are successful, we spend money on your product. When you aren't we don't. The fallacy of brand driven marketing.

Yes, my feelings about the FO are absolutely speculation. But I think it is based upon reasoning that at worst is not unsound. Name me one guy not named Stan Bowman or Jeremy Colliton who would want to GM or coach this team as it stands right now.

If you know anything about the history of the Chicago sports beats and what gets out and what doesn't, consider that teams will remove press access if reporters report bad news about their organizations. No access = no content for stories = no job with your media outlet.

I just fail to see the case in favor of spending premium dollars for a sub-professional product, with no plan to reverse course in place, and the lack of integrity when it comes to communicating with fans.

- Return of the Roar

On spending money on the team, I agree lemming loyalty shouldn't be guaranteed. As a consumer it's your right to purchase or not purchase whatever, and if it's not something you choose to support, don't go.

Unlike about 95% of this board, I don't have sources; so the fact that I can't name a guy who would take the GM or coaching job doesn't mean squat. I bet there are quite a few more people than you would think, who'd jump at the chance. I'd also bet that even given the run of bad performances, team on the ice, etc. the franchise isn't considered quite the bad joke that some do here. Just a hunch. Like I said, I have no sources.

I do know about the history of the Chicago sports beats. It's not all that dissimilar to the sports beats here in Detroit or pretty much any other city that has a professional sports franchise.

So what about the columnists? That's different than the beat guys. I subscribe to the Athletic. Their reporting seems to be pretty objective for the most part and they've pointed out the Emperor isn't wearing any clothes on numerous things they've disagreed with: The Hawks are a playoff team (not), Bowman not using the Hossa money in FA, trades that haven't gone Bowman's way (all of them according to some posters), etc.

They've even reported on some disfunction, in particular between Stan and, Q's firing, etc. I've just never read about it to the level that's oft speculated here.

D-men take longer to develop. C/FWD generally can make the jump to the NHL quicker and make an impact quicker.

We also don't know whether they thought they were the best available or not.

It is a bad deal. Its basically the Leafs dumping a bad contract, a 4th liner and a prospect that is highly over-valued by Leaf fans.

As I tout the 5'10" 160lb Hughes as the Real Deal 1st overall pick??!! Come on man! Look no further than Big Artem Anisimov and Alex Debrincat for proof that it's just as muchthe size of the dog in the fight, as the fight in the dog.

Shocking to me that you can attack the offensive blue line that Shea Weber is guarding with your head down......

We can all offer projected lineups for next season (I have been guilty of it too), but this is going to be more than a 1 year rebuild or whatever Hawk management wants to call it.

The time is now to ship out some movable assets , if they waive their NTC,s for the future.
I'd like to think 2 and 50 would be part of this. Get some picks and prospects for the rebuild and future cap space for a FA or two down the road.

Wouldn't expect much next season either and hope to qualify for another top 5 draft choice. Aim for a playoff spot in the 20-21 season, followed by serious Cup contention after that.

Remember that Hawks commercial when the golden boys Toews and Kane were featured in that "Our goal is to grow playoff beards" ad and they had those fake beards on? They can resurrect that ad, but this time showing them with gray beards.

On the MTL GWG, a forward flew the zone and was in the neutral zone when the goal was scored.

Did anyone catch who it was?

"31. Chicago Blackhawks — Maybe Jeremy Colliton goes on to be a good NHL head coach, but right now the decision to fire Quenneville just looks comical."

Stan Bowman has turned this team into a laughingstock. We all expected a regression to the middle of the pack and eventually into the basement, but this is a simply an embarrassing dive to the bottom of the dumpster....its 2 wins in their last 20 games now, right???? With 1 win in OT on a last second soft goal by Reimer in Florida??
