It's a good article. And a good roster, actually.
That bottom six al have a couple/few years of NHL experience, that helps.
I still see TT as a RW, but I haven't watched him play much lately but I'd put him on Toews' RW. I'd probably put Danault at 2LC, makes the Schmaltz trade with AZ, put Strome at 3LC with ADB on his LW. I'd probably play Forsling over Gus on 3rd pair D. But overall, that's a solid playoff roster.

Teuvo is a winger. Gets spot duty on faceoffs but primarily plays RW and plays the point on the PP.

Thanks. I've been saying it for awhile that we have a collection of talents here and not an actual team and that is why we've fallen off as a team so quickly.

I agree, if you have a team that has lines with Toews-Saad, Panarin-Kane, and Strome-Cat, and I would say Kampf-Kahun anchoring the 4th line you have stability throughout the lineup and a balanced attack. The next thing would be to find out where/or IF any of Perlini, Hayden, Sikura, Ejdsell, Fortin, Johnson, etc. fit into those four (or six if you count the two guys in the press box) remaining spots to complement all of those players to round out the team.

If they can somehow (most likely not going to be able to be done; unless Murphy goes but we need to ADD better defensemen not subtract them) keep AA while being able to sign Panarin to reunite the PAK line and then be able to draft in the Top 3 for a guy who can step into the lineup on their the Toews-Saad line or the Strome-Cat line. Then you'd have at least in theory two set lines where guys can kind of rotate those other spots. At least then you have a balanced group of guys who can put some pucks in the back of the net. Then you hope they defensive kids can develop and step in sooner than later to retool the team.

I think its a combo of both. Guys are still trying to figure out the system exactly and what is expected out of them. You see the improvements there from when he first started, but it's no where near what any of us would like for it to be. I think JC is looking at guys in different spots to get a feel for what the excel at and where they lack so he can put them in positions to succeed. Fitting the pieces he has into a puzzle that is missing pieces. You hope you can walk away at the end of this year and say you know what we can expect out of guys like Kampf, Kahun, maybe Sikura so when we pencil them in the lineup we actually have an idea of what they can do and the team can then add in a piece or two around them to improve the depth and areas the team lacks in

Wow with that all star lineup you mentioned it's amazing the Hawks are absolutely dead last and still sinking in the power rankings. Must be some reason other than the actual playing hockey part of it..

Shawsie was the underdog’s underdog. Passed over in his first draft year, then worked his but off over other higher picks to make the club.

My point about Hartman was that he was viewed as a Shaw-type when the Hawks traded Shaw. Then the Hawks trade Hartman without anyone on the roster to play that pest role.

I talked about Kessel as speculation, and was told I have a crack addiction.

I think those two things are unrelated. I mean your crack addiction was well documented prior to your apparent use of hallucinogens.

Yeah Breadman, I distinctly remember your post starting something like this:

Recently I was hitting a big bowl of crack, and I got to thinking about how the Hawks should trade for Kessel...

I get that Hayden’s not a top six player, but don’t see him as an AHL player either. He’s versatile can play all three forward positions and I do like him on the power play. Half of his scoring came on the power play in college.
- walleyeb1

Fair enough, he does have uses, but I'm just not happy with what he has done this year.

This is just how I've personally felt about him so far.

His first cup of coffee with the Hawks he looked really engaged and was playing to his strengths tossing out nearly 4 hits a game. He added a few points but was just more of a factor on the ice.

Last season, he came into camp looking great and looking good but seemed to hit a wall, which got him demoted. I was encouraged when he was playing the PK and doing well, but I thought he was mostly chasing the puck and not doing much after the first month or so. I liked what he did when he was recalled, he was the net front presence on a couple of goals for the Hawks and optimism was renewed.

This season, he has the odd good shift, but he only seems 80% of the way there. He gets the puck, skates and tries to protect it but nothing gets generated. I wish he was out there fore-checking and making his presence felt every shift. I'm not a skating coach, but in my eyes he looks like he needs to pick up his feet keep them moving more. Anyway, I could be wrong, but that is just how I feel about him. I'd hoped to see some improvement this season, but mostly he is just playing less physical and less noticeable to me.

PITTSBURGH has been scouting Chicago I heard in a post and it's believed they are interested in Keith and possibly anisomov.

That's what's being talked about.

Big cap hit for a guy who will be 34 when the Hawks reasonably can expect to be a Cup contender.
- StLBravesFan

He is 31 now and he has good numbers. Remember we brought hossa in at 31, so as long as he can play. Moving Keith would be great he is 35 and it makes room for another young promising defenseman next year.

Hossa was brought in to a team that was ready to at least contend for a Cup - and actually won it in his first season.

This team is two/three/four years away from contending.

Different situations.

True I won't dispute that. However they need a top 6 winger to help solidify their top 6. Their is nobody on this team or in Rockford that you can put in that role.

No to that trade kessel is 31 so another aging player with hugh contract. Maybe do that trade then flip kessel to another team and get younger assets back plus picks. Bowman to stupid and would lose the trade. Besides vermette trade what recent trade over the last 4 years have bowman won or where it was a good trade for both team and made sense. Also i would take malkin over kessel imo.

Keith and Seabrook are both albatross on this team , so if they can move 1 of them that's a huge relief. Their aren't to many teams beating down the door to take Keith or Seabrook and to do so would entail both waiving their no movement clauses , 2nd hawks either eat salary and give up prospects or picks,

So id take a 31 year old kessel who is consistentnin scoring has 30 or 33 points this season. Anisomov isn't worth keeping. So if it means Keith and anisomov for kessel that's a deal Stan should take.

Yes he can always flip kessel so .
