Power Rankings by Sean McIndoe with The Athletic. The blurb on the Hawks is as biting as we are around here:
Chicago Blackhawks (9-17-5, -30) – Here’s a sentence you don’t want people to be able to write about you when the season is only 31 games old: They’ve lost seven in a row and it’s not their longest losing streak of the year.
With 18 losses in their last 21, it’s tempting to say that the Blackhawks have flatlined, but that would imply the presence of a line. Instead, let’s say the heartbeat monitor that should be flatlining is just a blank screen. And it’s a blank screen because the machine isn’t plugged in. And the machine isn’t plugged in because it doesn’t have a plug because it’s just an overflowing garbage bag full of coffee grounds and used diapers.
Their season is going poorly. Not sure if I made that clear.

All Hail Gus not a name just how JC feels about him. - Z3Hawk
But it's The Who ... and it's ironical, haha.

I love me some Magic Gus - but after naming Gus, Who’s Next? |

I'm not sure if that's a title drop, an actual question, or a combination of the two? Haha.

umm his leadership had great talent, skill and competitive will to lead with those teams....not so much with this group three years later...
he alone can't lead goals into the net during the pp or lead an AHL caliber blueline that makes more mental unforced errors than physical errors... - bogiedoc
So, what are you saying?
He just happened to be the Captain of a team loaded with talent, and THAT'S why they won those cups?
The narrative has been it was all Toews being all "Leadershippy" and "Serious" all the time and that was why the team had all that success....
Which one was it??

At least the Blues suck, and they don't even have any cups. L A is also awful, lets keep it together people. We still have some incredible talent that most teams would love. One more poop season and JH could tern the whole ship around! |

It is a bad deal. Its basically the Leafs dumping a bad contract, a 4th liner and a prospect that is highly over-valued by Leaf fans. - Elbows15

Kadria signed for 4.5M for three more yrs after this season. Could see Toronto wanting to move that contract ahead of signing Mathews and Marner. But taking on Keith's salary negates that.
Kadria having a down season it seems. Projected points for this year less than last 2 years. Any reason for that? |

Kadri slots best as a 3C. What do we do Anisimov, and who is the 2C - Stromme? |

Well, now that Seattle has a team, maybe the Hawks could be relocated to QC. |

It would be hilarious if the worst 2 teams in the NHL get booted to the AHL and then the two finalist teams in the AHL get moved up every year. How nuts would that be? |

That'd definitely remove any remaining country club arrogance. No more private planes, no more free meals or 5-star hotels. Maybe we'd see some more motivation for those RS games. |

Article about Shaw's return to Chicago. Man, we miss his tenacity and his versatility.
https://www.dailyherald.c...lvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
"Still, it's players like Shaw that most teams need to be successful over the long haul. A guy who can score 12 to 18 goals a season. Who can play on any line, in any role. Deliver a hit to fire up a bench. Be a leader behind the scenes. Get a team out of a slump with a fiery speech or two.
Tangibles, intangibles -- Shaw has both in spades.
"We always say it's not always the best players that make the best teams -- it's the best group of players," Julien said. "You need a little bit of everything -- whether it's highly skilled players, grinders, penalty killers and guys like Shawzie … that you can put on the fourth line (or) the first line and they'll always do the job.
"Those are players that are not always easy to find, but when you have them you want to take advantage of it and that's what we've done with Andrew Shaw so far."" |

A couple of core guys went after him. And then some. |
