this organization didn't do him any favours by bringing him to town so young

3rd overall pick, was dominating in juniors and Bergevin was trying to make up for a bad season by giving fans some hope for the future.

Now that's not fair.

Players have different styles and "slowing down the play" is one of them.

Pretty sure Kovalev or Joe Thornton were processing the play just fine and they were masters at slowing down the play.

Sure but he's not half the player those guys are/were...

Kid started his career with a lot of potential...He just doesn't seem mentally strong enough to ever be a great player in this league.

Personnally, i see a difference between Galchenyuk before the knee injury and afterward. He was more dynamic with the puck and definitely had stronger skating. Sure he needs to find his confidence but he looks more like a perimeter player since the injury. Not that he was a front-of-the-net presencw before but still...

If the Habs are in good postion in the standings come march, would you go after Wayne Simmonds? It feels he would be a great fit in the playoffs alongside Domi and Drouin...

i think he'd be a great complementary player for a top center because he has the skill to finish plays and distribute the puck. but he's never going to be the driving force on a top line.
- DoubleDown

Very well said. And he's never really had that player.

No, don't mortgage the future for this year. Do your best and try to draft another good player or 2.

True but Kovalev’s stick handling was just a master piece and no one in the game can protect the puck like Thorton (Jagr was amazing as well). Galchenyuk doesn’t possess those weapons.

And if you sign him? He is a great leader, still in his 20’s, can score 25 goals and is a big physical presence. The 2020 1st round could be used and you keep this year’s first to draft a D?

Domi obviously did/said something to Tanner at some point.

And I watched the Coyotes game the other night, or at least a portion of it. Galchenyuk was my favorite Hab since he was drafted. My kids wear #27 (some Kovalev influence there) and we own several jerseys, now rendered useless. I would still love to have him on the Habs, but watching him without rooting interest, he seemed...slow and lost.

Good god.

And I disagree. That's not the type of D-man that they need.

I'd like a puck mover with Webber you'd go more for a stay at home?

Gosth won’t come any cheaper...if Keith didn’t have that contract he would have been a great compliment to Weber.

Provorov plays left and is a legitimate first pairing D. I would pay a lot for such a young and talented D.

Maybe not stay at home, but less offense-minded.
