please rewatch Philly's first round playoff series of last year - you might want to revisit that statement. Gudas was the primary reason Flyers lost that series.
- plantheparade

He did have some bad games from what I recall (from my flyer fan buddy), but he wasnt the primary reason for they lost.

Yeah, I read an article where Gudas talked about having to tone it down physically a bit this year due to the game changing.

He’s been doing pretty well with it, and I went to the Leafs 6-0 game against Philly. Gudas was the only D that could keep up with the leafs forwards. And hit Johnnson pretty hard in the first min of the game.

But....he did score a hat trick in 10 mins after that hit....hmm....maybe we should re think this toughness thing?

- Santo_44

a big hit or a fight works to swing momentum.. it does.
we just cant say which way it will go..but if it goes your way, that confirms it was what changed momentum.

if it doesnt go your way, you ignore it and dont mention the play.

So we better get one of those players

His penalty differential has been great this season.
- Santo_44

His what? Like committed vs drawn?

YOY he's about the same but has been declining over the past 4 years. (Around 1PIM per game)

Anyway, he's a defender who might be OK to have but not worth acquiring.

Do the St. Louis Blues not have scouts? What were they thinking giving a 32 year old defensively poor Tyler Bozak 3 years at $5 M ? They deserve to suck.
Philly must also be feeling a little nervous with the JVR signing right now. Injured and not really producing so far, but he is a proven scorer, just invisible defensively and on the rest of the ice.

I read this earlier:

(Yes, I know JVR only has played like 10 games)

Their combined cap hit is 16.3 million
Tavares 11 million.

I couldn't pick Gudas out of a police lineup, but if you talk to Flyers fans on Hockeybuzz, he isn't going to help the Leafs.

Not at all.

Yeah I just don’t see anyone saying they will send Z and a bottom 6 forward....no one is disagreeing that adding Z to the deal isn’t a plus.

Adding Z makes a deal possible...any good team that will want to trade for Pietrangelo will need to work out a way to send salary back. AP will(if he is even available by TDL) will go to a top team in the league. And top teams generally won’t have the cap space to take on 6.5 million for two years. A top team will pay the price. A middling team fighting for a playoff spot probably won’t
.

He'll have a say to which team he is traded to if at all traded.

He's from Toronto. I don't see that as a huge stumbling block.

Yep, which makes a lot of sense. He said he had to tone it down for the “new” NHL

John Chayka said G Antti Raanta had a procedure on his injury and the damage was more extensive than originally thought. Possible he could miss the rest of the season. Right now, listing him as out indefinitely.

Sadly, I don't think the Coyotes have any meat we want to pick off their carcass.

Sure, and every nhl team has a say if they want to pay the big price....usually top teams are the teams willing to trade away multiple futures for players like that.

TB with Mcdonaugh is a perfect example.

We need a Ryan Holweg type player.

Somebody who isn't afraid to cross-check players into the boards at any time during the game.

He really kept the opposition on their toes - they never knew when he would try to end their career.

You guys may scoff, but I'd had a spot on any Leafs roster for Ryan Holweg.

And?

Did you see the game 7 thread last season for the Leafs ?

Gardiner and Nylander were both the worst players in the NHL according to that thread.

Blow it up and get Matt Martin back!
- RogerRoeper

How many times are you going to type this this week?

When Matt Martin was on the Leafs they were still a good team, it's not like we got rid of Matt and all of a sudden won something.

He may be past his time now....but he still wouldn't hurt us...it's not like Tyler Ennis is making us much better....as I said yesterday or a guy like Matt Martin from the Marlies.....

I'm just going to say that Gudas is a poor man's Polak.
I kinda like Polak, but he's a bottom pairing / 7th D-man on this Leafs team.
Gudas is simply not good enough.

Leafs have the solution on the Marlies: just call up the CyBorg, and demote Marincin or Holl.

When did he say this? Didn't he get a major suspension for trying to chop a guys head off at the end of last season?

Checked: early last season and got 10 games for it. But also found this;
Upon returning from this ten game suspension, Gudas immediately found himself in the news again after leaving his feet to deliver a hit to New Jersey Devils' forward Kyle Palmieri on February 1, 2018.

As we speak, he's trying to dig up Jagr's corpse so he can play on Matthews' wing.
