Maybe in terms of price, but that doesn't take into account the piece of your soul that you have to give up to watch a team owned by Eugene Melnyk |

I'm glad Hyman hit him. The Leafs are soft. 2 games is worth it. Plus Hyman is probably already a little banged up. Some time to heal a bit. Hope Toronto can find someone who can be a physical presence and contribute. Kadri tries, Hyman tries and that is about it. Gauthier is soft, so is Hainsey. Both big guys who can't skate, who don't hit, who have stone hands. After Rielly got run at. The response should have been more then the wrestling match with Hainsey. If the Leafs don't address this somewhat in the coming months, another 1st round exit is probable. |

The team the Leafs are trying to keep up with in their Division who is first in the NHL and probably a cup favorite is 30th in the NHL in fights with 2, also are 26th in the League in PIM per game.
does TB have that element? who is their tough guy push back player? |

Anyone who thinks that the Leafs can use Zaitsev as a centrepiece in a trade for Pieterangelo needs to get off the crack. |

I haven’t seen one person say this....
Just because a player is put into a deal it does not make him the centrepiece. |

Hmmm 🤔 ... so the problem is fans are worrying about beating teams lower in the standings and the team is worrying about beating Tampa .. stupid team |

if the numbers I am looking at are correct,
Leafs
PIM 201
PIMA 227
TB
PIM 246
PIMA 270
they have more against but also take more..the difference is almost identical 24/26
I dont know what to make of it tbh

It needs to be address immediately before:
A. Our key players are injured (again), and;
B. The entire league realizes how effective physicality is and that we lack any form of response (and that might be too late)
A goon isn't the answer at all. A couple big and tough players capable of playing in various situations is. Sadly, Babcock's teams are notoriously soft and it's doubtful that this issue will be addressed to the extent it should be.
Kreider, Simmonds and Maroon are examples of the type of player we should be looking to acquire. |

Just used Opps for my joke
Tampa has a full 30 PP Opps more than the 31st place Leafs.
(Edit: If you're an Athletic subscriber apparently there is a really good article on the absurdity of the Leafs' special teams numbers)
Bonus edit: Leafs are in last for PP Opps but top 10 for PPG's. THANKS, BETTMAN! |

there is a nice article as well about the reasons why leafs don't get alot of pp opportunities - not sure you are referring to the same article?
basically boils down to the fact that referees indeed like to give 'compensatory penalties' - since leafs don't take alot of penalties, they don't get awarded a pp (easily) either. |

When most people refer to grit or toughness, they are not referring to fighters/fighting or taking alot of penalties.
Simply players with more edge, but of course skill.
Personally, i think the leafs did show a little more grit Saturday. They didnt just get pushed over. |
