I think we match up well against Tampa. It would be a skill v. skill matchup. I like our skill a lot.. So far, offensively at least, Rielly is close to Hedman in terms of what they can do with the puck. We just need to add a piece on defense that can handle some of Tampa's skill - PatC80
rielly sucks defensively.. thats a problem |

Wrong my friend, one of the components that the Bruins got from the Kessel trade was Tyler Seguin, who the Bruins subsequently traded to Dallas & guess what the Bruins have left over from that trade................absolutely NOTHING.......ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, nothing even in their organization, it was the worst trades in all of professional sports, right up there with the Hershel Walker trade between the Cowboys & Vikings.
The Leafs ended up with Andersen & Kapanen from Pitt for Phil & you can even throw in Matthews too as they were so bad that same season that they won the draft lottery......THANK YOU KESSEL!..... - bluestar
That's not true. They used that 1st rounder to pick Zach Sencyshyncn |

Even adding a D, i dont see it.
The Leafs are not even a strong possession team. they are hovering around 50%, somewhere in the middle of the League.
Thats offset by the chances they generate. the GF% is leading atm.
but still i am not convinced one or 2 additions would make the difference - senstroll
Goalies will be a huge factor. If andersen plays like sat against bruins, they’re screwed. If he plays like he has the last 2 months then they’ll be a tough matchup for any team.

There seems to be some disconnect in terms of the message.
Nylander said that Dubas said that he'd never trade him.
Dubas claims that he said that he told Nylander that the point of signing him wasn't to trade him for other assets. - TheMussel
"Willy, Willy, Willy, I will never trade a Nylander. I just wouldn't."

Alex that is. Muhuhahaha

Hymen got more than enough in game.
Depietro would be a nice piece. Would Nylander have got it done? I do wonder why Dubas would publicly say he would never trade him as long as he was the GM. That is something a GM should never say, even about the best players in the league, let alone Nylander. - aminnes
Forget.
About.
Trading.
Nylander.
Anytime.
Soon.
Even if there's a remote possibility of trading Nylander in the future, there's NO CHANCE of it happening before Matthews and Marner are re-signed. In other words, it's not happening this season and that makes it way too far out to project anything at this point.
Move forward, people. |

Nylander said that Dubas told him that he won't be traded as long as he is the GM. Reporters asked Dubas about that and he said, "I don't know why that's a surprise," Dubas said. "I've been on the record as saying that ... it's our intention to have him here as long as we're here".
He throws in the word 'intention', but acknowledges he did tell him that. Now if he trades him (and IMO he needs to with their cap situation), he looks bad. |

He was in the Dougie Hamilton trade from Boston to Calgary, i was more referring to what Boston got back from Dallas in the Seguin trade, the Hamilton trade was a LITTLE better as they got back 3 high picks & one of them is Debrusk, the guy you mentioned & another guy named Studnicka who is still playing junior. |

Vegas rode great goaltending and timely scoring all the way thru the playoffs.. We need the same.. Just like every team needs, they all need great goaltending in the playoffs. |

That's what people are saying, but with their cap situation he needs to be dealt. Assuming the Leafs get AM and MM signed to cheaper deals than the media is projecting, let's say 11 and 8. Even without Ennis, Gardner, Hainsey, Marincin and not even including Horton, that puts the Leafs at over 79 million already with Kapanen at 3.5, and Johnsson at 2. Basically, the clubs depth will be long gone if they don't make a bold move in the summer. At the rate things are going and when you ad Horton this team is in major trouble next season. |

Once Matthews and Nylander get back into game shape this will be a much different looking team - Santo_44
Matthews looks terrible out there at the moment.
He's so franking fat and out of shape, he has trouble exiting the offensive zone.
In fact, I've seen him just lazily skate back to centre ice six times in the last five games, just waving his arms and stick in the air.
Pathetic. |

Tenders help, most teams in the PO's have a good tender though.

They'll be fine I think.. Gardiner will either be let go, or signed for a similar deal to his current one. Hainsey will be off the books.. Marleau could be moved. Horton can be put on IR. Zaitsev can be moved, as could Brown.
It's only impossible if Matthews gets $16M and Marner gets $14M, like RippedFuel had foretold |

Don't be so sure. I ordered a microphone and some strings on Friday and now it's gonna be late because they sent it to the wrong postal facility. Your punch in the face might arrive tomorrow, or it might arrive on christmas eve. |
