Cmon fletch that’s enough eval time. Let’s pick up the pace. Cap space and draft picks to use. Use em. Santa sacks overflowing here in the stock room. Time to give the STH and alums what they want. |

There isn't a GM in the league with big enough pucks to offer sheet Matthews. - Scoob
There isn't a team in the league that would make an offer that Toronto wouldn't match within an hour.
Also, why would Matthews sign any potential offer sheet unless negotiations really go south? |

Matthews should be getting a contract exceeding McDavids cap hit. It’s 2 years later than mcdavids contract and he’s putting up numbers in one of the biggest hockey markets in the world. He has a more well rounded game. If he continues this great season and leads the leafs deep into the playoffs. His deal should be no less than 14 mil per. |

I don't disagree that $14M is in the ballpark, but really...would he take a discount (with a high signing bonus the first few years) to keep the team more competitive? Even when they were in their primes, Crosby was paid less than Malkin so they could keep the team more competitive, although he could have asked for the sky. If you're only making $12M instead of $14M, you'll still sitting pretty and that gives your team a better chance to win. |

He has a more well rounded game?? Pass that here my dude. Mcdavid is no stud in the defensive zone but to say Matthews is more well rounded is crazy. Also, say Matthews goes down again this year for 15-20 games, is Toronto hesitant to give him $12M+? They may have to but this kid has some injury history even going back to U.S. NTDP. |

If you ask me, I'd say Matthews game has been trending downward ever since his second NHL game. Probably best to trade him now. |

I can’t say. Some mix of prospects/picks/young NHL players. But for me the jig is up with these two. That’s the shakeup I’d lean to.
I also see one of ghost or sanheim being dealt. |

Okay. So you just want them gone?
Okay, Simmonds and Voracek to Pittsburgh for Zach-Aston Reese and a couple 4th round picks. Does that make the team better, just to get rid of them for a couple of picks?
How about Ghost to the Rangers for a 3rd and a 6th? |

there's the dilemma . He does have some injury issues....BUT.. this kid is a top 5 talent already. I see him getting 12.5 to 13 per and I see Toronto paying it. For an offer sheet the current team has to have a bad relationship or not be willing to pay the player. Toronto is neither...The player also has to sign it!! I just don't see that happening. If it did...look for Arizona to go all in.

I could see the Flyers trading both guys....but it would be for some young NHL talent....I don't think they need any more prospects at this point. Fletcher has been brought in to make this team better...today not in 3 years...not the Hextall plan.

Is this in defense of Voracek because the city of Philadelphia have been chanting “trade Simmonds” without a return plan for months. |

No, I want somebody to give me a scenario of where they should look to trade Simmonds and/or Voracek and what the Flyers should expect as a return. If all you want is to be rid of the player, you could do it in a split-second, but the return won't be worth it.
Just saying, "TRADE HIM!" doesn't really mean much if you don't know what you're getting in return. Trade him for what? To whom? What's your reason for trading him? Does that make the team better now or 3-5 years from now?
For me, personally, if I'm trading Voracek, I'd look at a team like Colorado or Nashville. Teams that may be 1 piece away, are out of the conference, and have cap space. From Nashville, I'd ask for for Saros, one of Fiala/Hartman, and a 2nd rounder (1st in Nashville makes WCF), as I'm assuming Tolvanen isn't available. From Colorado, I'd want Tyson Jost, Samuel Girard, and a 2nd rounder (1st in Colorado makes WCSF). |

You arent getting young players that are going to equal the production they both have so I am taking it you are calling for a full on rebuild with that move? |

I'm pretty sure almost everyone has been saying a 1st or prospect for about a year now. |
