Colors are correct but I’m going to say that’s not a leafs logo lol.
I highly doubt any kid would wear a tie of any team logo, in any sport for a draft. Sure would be a foolish statement and a cocky one no less for a kid to be that sure. - KINGS67
Not the Leafs logo. |

Thinking Liljegren is the savior to the leafs defense is reaching. If it happens great, but I doubt he comes in and makes an immediate impact. Gardiner walking will hurt.
e. - KINGS67
I never said anything about Liljegren being a saviour. Simply said that if you have to lose Gardiner this summer then you can replace with Liljegren. Might end up saving you $4-5M. Marleau's $6M disappears the year after. It's no the cap hell everyone claims. |

If I am Dubas, I ink this kid and perhaps trade Marner if I MUST to get some picks and or younger players to help keep the window open. Matthews and JT are an impressive as a 1-2 punch.
With that said, you don't think that other teams with deep pockets and cap space wouldn't mess with Toronto? I would if I were Fletcher or Lou or the GM for the Rangers.
Supposedly, the Flyers offered 11x8 to JT and couldn't get his attention as he wanted to play for his hometown team. I get that.
Enter AZ. Your franchise sold for $250m-ish recently? Vegas went for $500m and Seattle for $650m. Wanna sell some jerseys? Fill some seats and boost the value of the franchise to 650m? Sign young austin to an offer sheet.
In the end Dubas is in cap hell but he MUST sign Matthews. There's no excuse. Leafs fans can rant about the wingers on their limes but one might ask how long has it been since the Leafs had anyone up the middle as good as either of these two? Mats Sundin? Sorry. |

Knowing the Maple Farts will match any offer, the Isles should throw 14-15m at him. Payback for the Tavares tampering - BringNYIhome
The thing is, Matthews would have to sign that for it to matter.
And then he risks belonging to the islanders.
The leafs have this guy named John tavares on roster that has probably told him all about what it's like to play for them.
Zero chance he signs a contract with the islanders and risks having to play for them. |

LOL 😂
I think 3-4 teams should. ARI. NYI. CAR. NYR. maybe a couple other teams. I dont know cap situations at the top of my head or what picks those teams have but I’m throwing out possible teams.
Oh and no I don’t think it’s happening - KINGS67
Any team with an internal cap like Arizona should not be offer sheeting Matthews. With the amount of money it would take, and no first round picks for 4-5 years, he would have nobody to play with. 7 years of futility would also not be appealing to him as a player. To me it's not a great idea. Other cap teams like the Rangers or Flyers could probably afford to make the offer. |

A few holes in your plan:
AZ is teetering on bankruptcy.
Jersey sales are league revenue, not team revenue.
AZ is teetering on bankruptcy.
The Leafs are not in cap hell.
AZ did not sell recently.
AZ does not have two nickels to rub together.
Matthews is a competitive guy, so it is doubtful he would want to go to a poop franchise.
But hey, don't let me get in the way of your masterbation around ruminations about the ruination of Leafs Nation.
51 years since a Stanley Cup, and you are obsessed about the Leafs.
Weird.
And sad.
But mostly hilarious.

You really think Tavares talks poop about the Isles? He basically said it was either the Isles or Leafs this past summer so this seems like a big reach. |

Matthews is as good as gone as far as Toronto. The Leafs better just focus on keeping Marner. Otherwise, BOTH could be history. Matthews in AZ and Marner on the Island Book it. |

The best part of all this, is listening to Leafs fans DESPERATELY hoping the inevitable end isn't coming..

Nah.
I dont think he has to either. I dont think auston Matthews even has to ask john tavares what playing for the islanders is like to know he's not interested in signing a contract with them. |

Why the hell would anyone sign an offer sheet to play with the Coyotes?? You think Matthews is going to leave a contending team in an amazing city with an amazing market to join possible the worst hockey destination in the NHL just because he was raised there? How many star players signed with the Leafs during their terrible years because they were from Toronto......!!!
Gardiner will not be the deciding factor whether the Leafs sign Matthew or Marner - He will be gone if that's what it comes down to. - Cooshie
You’re a moron if you don’t think money isn’t a factor. Also, I agree that he won’t. But they have reasons. |

People were saying the exact same things about Nylander a week ago, 100% convinced the Leafs had to move him. Just because people want the Leafs to lose one of those guys, doesn't mean it will happen. There are so many things the Leafs can do before they have to think about moving one of those guys, not to mention the cap is going up this year and with Seattle expansion it will have another significant bump in a few years.
All part of the plan. |
