Any team with an internal cap like Arizona should not be offer sheeting Matthews. With the amount of money it would take, and no first round picks for 4-5 years, he would have nobody to play with. 7 years of futility would also not be appealing to him as a player. To me it's not a great idea. Other cap teams like the Rangers or Flyers could probably afford to make the offer.

People were saying the exact same things about Nylander a week ago, 100% convinced the Leafs had to move him. Just because people want the Leafs to lose one of those guys, doesn't mean it will happen. There are so many things the Leafs can do before they have to think about moving one of those guys, not to mention the cap is going up this year and with Seattle expansion it will have another significant bump in a few years.
