bortuzzo Sanford fight at practice in St LOuis - Thorny87
Wow, just saw that. I guess that Kessel for Tarasenko deal may be the shakeup they need after all. |

Yeah but often will we have a chance to buy low-ish on a player of that caliber. If the rumored deal was Kessel, I imagine it would have been for Domi + and that would have been a great long term move. Save $3M, get multiple assets, get younger, get a "Sullivan" type player, and come close to replacing the production. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Would have severely worsened PIT |

Yeah true... but for poops and giggles.. make Maatta and Bortuzzo part of the deal as well. Offsets the age difference of Vlad and Phil. Gives us a worse player but a cheaper RH bottom pair D.
I know we always talk Phil hypotheticals but really beyond MIN, I have no idea what 8 teams he'd approve to going to. You cant really judge off the last list he submitted because that could have been strategic (i.e. i know this team wont trade for me so put them on the list) thus making his 8 teams more like 1 or 2. |

Absolutely would not have been a great long term deal. That would have been a stupid deal to make. I highly doubt Domi would replace Kessels numbers in Pittsburgh. |

I mean there would have been more than just Domi coming back but I'm not going to argue that. I generally think hanging onto Phil is the smart thing to do. But for those talking about retooling type of move to get younger, cheaper, etc... seeing Domi blossoming this year made me think that move could have worked out well. |

LOL no
Just look at his PDO and shooting percentage.
He is good but not as good as his current goal and point totals. |

I'd say it's as close to a certainty as you can get that Domi would not replace Kessel's numbers.
Now, if the Pens weren't in a win-now mode and were looking to re-tool to get younger, I'd be looking at both Domi and Chychrun for Kessel.
Kessel is not slowing down even a little and will probably be Jagr in terms have producing until his last days in the NHL. |

I love this Sullivan/Kessel narrative. I mean look, if Sullivan can't stand Kessel which keeps leading Kessel toward 90+ point seasons then please, I hope Suliivan keeps on hating Kessel. |

Dudes shooting 20%. You think he’ll continue to shoot 20% over the course of his career or do you think it’ll come back down to earth where it was between 8-11% his first 3 years?
For reference sake, Stammer’s career avg. is 16%, Ovis is 13%, Tarasenko’s 13%, Matthews 17% (with a god-like 29% this season.), Laine 18%... I don’t think Domi is on any of their levels. |

Not to mention Domi is a left handed shot that wouldn’t be beneficial to the Penguins PP where Kessel thrives and is an elite PP producer. |

Brassard was on the Pens roster for 44 days and only counted $1,182,796 towards the cap.
Reaves only counted $266,129 to VGK
Cole only counted $462,903 to CBJ and $33,871 to OTT
Jooris also counted $87,500 to PIT - Feds91Stammer

What is this Max Domi circle jerk going on in here? For Phil (frank)ing Kessel?
I wanted us to swing a trade for Domi, but that dude is not better than Jake Guentzel let alone Phil Kessel. My offer would have been based around Sheary, but obviously they got way more than that, so thanks Montreal, for over paying and making sure Rutherford didn’t puke all over himself getting one of the Old Boys’ sons here. Montreal 100% lost that trade. |

I would like Domi on this team, not for Kessel though. I think Montreal needs a young goalie though. One with two shiny cup rings, and a bad attitude. Give Maatta away if we need cap room. |

You call everyone on this team entitled and then you want to trade for a guy based on last name recognition...
We should give Austin Lemieux a sweater. His dad’s Mario (frank)ing Lemieux! |

No I call Rust and Guentzel entitled, and Max Domi is a self made man and watching him play it’s easy enough to see he’s not riding the coattails of his old mans name recognition. Plus he is a good teammate. I want to trade for him because he’s a good hockey player who could play in our top six, and his playing style and attitude would do this team some good. |
