I feel like that’s all fan made up poop lol I don’t think teams really care who they are trading to when they’re trying to recoup assets.

I'm a big fan of Zucc. My only issue with the Pens making any moves is where they sit in the standings come the deadline. IMO unless they are pretty safely sitting a playoff spot I think this could be a bad year to send any major assets for any player that isn't a player with term.

I'd like to see the Pens make a move right now for Panik. I think he wouldn't cost more than a 3rd and maybe a somewhat mid-tier prospect. Slotting him next to Brass would be a significant upgrade IMO.

But why would AZ trade him right now?

Because I want them to?

EDIT: Raanta going down is IMO sealing their fate

Raanta is week to week and Panik plays on the 2nd line there.

Way too early for them to be giving him up for such a mediocre return.

I read he could miss the rest of the season.

Many sources stating the same thing.

Yeah, they're playoff hopes are done IMO unless they decide to make a move for a goalie.

Still that return is underwhelming

Maybe a 2nd and an okayish prospect for Panik.

Maybe. I'm not always sure what a player's value is via trade.

I'd maybe explore Rust if a an extension could be worked out.

EDIT: As we all know I'm not that best at balancing trade proposals lol

I just go based on past trades and the understanding that a 3rd round pick is fairly useless in terms of value

I would still rather them ATTEMPT spending less via trade on someone like Panik right now than a 1st or more when their playoff hopes are unsure.

While Panik is not a significant player I think what he would bring would be profound to the lineup in terms of setting balance and depth. Unfortunately this wouldn't be necessary if Rust were performing like an NHLer.

Spending less to see if they can better their chances of getting a playoff spot then spending more later for someone like Gus or Zucc is a better route to go IMO.

More importantly, let's talk lineups. I know Rolo has been waiting.

LW: Dubois(3), Tkachuk(3), Skinner, Conner

C: Eichel, Sid, Jake, Scheifele

RW: Laine, Aho, Wheeler, Kessel

D: Byfuglien, Dahlin, Green, Letang, Oleksiak, Chabot(3)

G: Andersen and DeSmith

I don't feel great about this lineup, specifically on LW since there aren't a ton of good 4-game LWs.

I've toyed with switching Eichel to Petterson and Aho to P.Kane.

Haha I am playing the 3rd highest scorer in the league. I am counting on an L this week.

LW: Ovi, M Tkachuk, Connor, Skinner

C: Pettersson, McDavid, Point, Guentzel

RW: Laine, Wheeler, Kessel, Kucherov

D: McAvoy, Chabot, Byfuglien, Letang, Green, Rielly

Did McAvoy get injured from Hyman's hit last night?

What are your thoughts on me switching Eichel to Larkin, Aho to P.Kane, Andersen to Domingue and Oleksiak to Hagg?

This is all to upgrade Aho to Kane, so the other moves are done to make that happen.

Eichel to Larkin -6 based on my projections

Aho to Kane +7

Oleksiak to Hagg -4

I don't do goalie projections but skater wise you are dropping a couple points based on my projections.

Cool. Yeah, I'm gonna stick with mine. I wish Ferland was back for CAR. He would be a better selection on the LW over Dubois.

LW is a weak group this season. Ferland is only +4 over PLD if healthy.

Yeah, that +4 is enough considering he plays one more game since it increases the chances of one of those games being a big game. Sounds like we have a similar projection system.

Man, I don't know where it went south this summer but Domi would sure look good in black and gold right now...

looking back at that AZ draft day insider video, it looked like a done deal.

Shooting percentage is twice his career average and what would you have given up to get him?

Yeah but often will we have a chance to buy low-ish on a player of that caliber. If the rumored deal was Kessel, I imagine it would have been for Domi + and that would have been a great long term move. Save $3M, get multiple assets, get younger, get a "Sullivan" type player, and come close to replacing the production.
