If there is any truth it would be Gagner that he cleared waivers for a late round pick and hold salary
- VANTEL

well...with 30 ish games gone for both clubs, Gagner's remaining cap hit for this year would seem to be a about $2M, then $3.15M next year (according to capfriendly).

That seems to me to not be high enough that retaining salary on him makes as much sense as (just saying) moving Loui Eriksson (for the Canucks) or moving someone like Saad / Seabrook / Keith (for the Hawks).

Gagner is clearly at the margin, both as a player able to contribute at an NHL level and as a cap consideration for the 'Nucks. They would probably be open to moving him for close to nothing just to be off the salary.

I will say Canucks buy out Gagner before the beginning of next year

Maybe but i don’t see the need to or is much gained. I’d guess trading him closer to family for peanuts is more likely. Possibly a top 9 depth player for a PO team.

Although Kings center Jeff Carter has struggled considerably this season, Eric Duhatschek of The Athletic (subscription required) believes that the time may be right for the team to move him. As a result of his back-diving contract, the financial outlay over the final three years of his deal is just $7MM in total which would make him attractive to lower-spending teams while his cap hit of roughly $5.27MM isn’t overly pricey for a top-six forward and would still carry some value. The 33-year-old has been quiet offensively this season with just five goals and nine assists in 29 games but a change of scenery might give him a boost. Carter does not have any trade protection in his contract.

That is more plausible than a prospect. Too bad we don't need him

Teams such as St Louis Chicago LAK look in bad shape & lottery teams. Add NJ & Philly & probably Ottawa that makes it 7 teams including us as bottom feeding lottery teams. That makes us possibly a bottom 5 which isn’t too bad.

I like Carter somewhat. If LAK looking for cap space it’s plausible i guess but i’d think more is needed from us.

He’d be a fit for a team that struggles to hit the cap floor, but that’s a big hit for a guy that might just be done. Canucks already have one of those.

No I got the Utica AHL.com package

Binghamton scored but was waived off due to a cross check - but the crowd started tossing teddy bears on the ice...

Dahlin just scored on the PP
