The fans go through the same things every year . We did it with Hamhuis Bieksa Sedins . We are afraid to let go. I will repeat the same thing I say every year , are we really afraid to fall from 26 to 31 ?
Hughes is a high end talent that will replace the scoring from the back end.
Remember the talent we are looking at replacing is Pouliot Hutton and MDZ . Are we really afraid we will suck more than them ?
Gudbrandson will still bring grit and McEneny if chosen is a gritty guy too and he has put up numbers . You can also turn to a guy like Gardiner for more offence .
There are many possibilities but we don't want to be discussing again in three years if we can let go of Edler finally
Marky has a year left after this and nilsson is a UFA
Marky/demko seems more possible
Mdz/pouliot/granlund all gone (not re-signed)
Goldobin and Boeser and Leivo re-signed
Edler re-signs like you said (hopefully discount)
Hutton resigned for close to 2 or 2.5 (his aav now)
Mdz and pouliot are huge additions by subtractions.
I dont know gardiner well enough, coaches seem to love him, fans seem to hate him
I still think hutton gets extended. He is right around the age they are looking for, even if its for just 1 year.
The Pettersson factor, however, they've also allowed about 30 more goals than at this point last year. So there is that! - LeftCoaster
Scoring is up league wide so why not compare to other teams this season rather than an irrelevant past season. No doubt it still doesnt look good but that (frank)ing Pouliot has to be the culprit for half of that.
Benning has a Stanley cup. You dont need to be a genius to win a stanley cup. But bowman has 3 more cup rings than the Canucks do. I think he deserves a bit more credit. - Codes1087
After Tallon gets a ton of credit.

Bowman the benefactor
Roussel just took his spot on the last shift. - manvanfan
Not that Greener didn’t switch things up, but the particular play you are referencing (I think, because it’s much later now) Horvat was double shifted with Rousel AND Eriksson (they both got assists on the play I believe). So it was Granlund who got replaced, not Goldy.

Not saying tallon doesn't deserve some, he did a ton for that team no doubt, but peter chiarelli has a stanley cup as well. It doesnt take a mastermind to win a stanley cup.

Edler and Tanev are, without a doubt, the two best D men on the team currently. I personally can’t wait to jettison the 8 of them for something new.
I’d take Hutton/Stecher as a third pairing if we moved everyone else for next season.
He was leading all rookie ahl blueliners in points for a while. May not be as offensive as
Hughes, but i think he can contribute offensively as well. - Codes1087
He’s an “all around” player. Like Edler, but without the body checks (prime Edler) maybe? I’m hoping for 20+ minutes per night and 35-40 points in all situations when he finally makes the NHL.

Gardiner will want 7mx7 to sign with us, no thanks, offer Elder a 4mx1y if he accepts a deadline deal. MNTC that turns into a 10 team no trade list at the deadline, rinse, repeat until OJ and hughes are in the top 4. Oh, and throw the bank at EK.

Yes he is ok offensively but I meant his game his primarily defensive. I recall reports of " He's not a light it up points better but will be effective defensively through good decision making"

It really isnt looking that way down in Utica. Sloppy defensively and productive offensively.
