As long as its not trading rackell and gibson for the chance to draft biggs. - HealthyScratch6
meh.. theres only so many good players and the leafs have a poop ton.. what would rackell and gibson be on this team now? a second line winger and a back-up..
leafs need one more D and toughness.. Then they'll be air-tight... They have to adjust their roster soon so they can gel over the last 50 games... Browns gotta go.. |

He was scared poopless. Every time he tries to act tough, he waits until there's an official between him and the other guy.
This time, he did nothing but be scared of Simmonds. Would have loved to see Simmonds beat the poop outta him. - GreatGigInTheSky
wouldn't this be nice if the Leafs had one of these guys?
Even Patrick is fun to watch, he's learning from Simmonds..
Leafs need Ferland. |

Would love Patrick but there's noway Philly gets rid of him. And I hope Simmonds wants to be a Leaf come free agency. 1 year deal. |

Agree Mike. They are ultra talented, but SOFT.
Time for Simmonds, Hendricks, Polak and Gudas. - Byfuglien Ate Me
nice to have a lion on the team. |

That's a dumb argument. Pick the last Stanley Cup champs and if you don't do everything like them you won't win even though the team who won the previous two cups are one of the softest teams with a week D good goalie and a lot of fire power up front. Sounds like another team but I cant quite put my finger on it. - HealthyScratch6
That's a dumb...? Aw, forget it, you're no fun and wouldn't understand any who.
Carry on.

Babccock didn't use Martin last year in Playoffs. And not many available forwards who can keep up with the speed, chip-in on offense, and bring the heat if needed. (Kassian may be the only guy. Maybe Nate Thompson in LA, though I haven't seen him play lately).
Best odds are on locating a tough, physical dman who can clear the net, skate well and play lots of minutes while not looking out of place on the rush or the point. (If I'm asking Santa, I'd want a good slapshot from the point too - nobody seems to have one on the Leafs). So who would you ask for? |

Or we could trade Brown to Carolina for Ferland
I'd love Simmonds too, but i feel like he'd be destined to fail here.. Too old and broken |

Maybe, maybe not..
Leafs have a toughness issue, it will be addressed. Babs likes size. They'll pick up another Polak type and the fans will whine..
I'd like to see them call up Marchment and Borgman, and trade for Ferland. Tell Tavares and guys like Hyman and Lindholm to finish their checks and play with a little more authority... - Arctic_AARDVARK
yup I'd like to see him up with the Leafs as well.
Move Ennis even though he can skate but I liked to see what Marchment can do in his place. |

A one time threat on the pp would be nice. Even if it second unit. Pulock maybe.

Highly doubt it.
The leafs use their one D on the power play in the center point to pass off to the wingers.
There is no place for a one time slapper from a D...Leafs PP is all about movement |

Hard no on Ferland, watched him here in Calgary for years, he fights when he is mad, many times he let other Flames fight (giordano, engelyand) when messages were being sent. He would have zero deterence for another team abusing Leaf skill players |

In Toronto, yes, most definitely. Leafs are dead last in slap shots two years in a row. They have a grand total of 65 this year in 29 games, 248 in 82 games last year.
That being said, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Winnipeg and Washington are among the leaders in slapshots and they seem to make it work for them.
Like any other type of shot, it's a tool and in certain situations, it's the right tool. Wish the Leafs had at least one or two guys, especially on the blueline and on the PP, who could bring that diverse dimension to the team.

I've been advocating his callup for a while now.
He's played fantastic hockey (when healthy) with the Marlies. |
