Last nights game had a playoff feel to it so it’s no surprise the leafs lost that tilt. Hopefully they don’t match up against Boston again or they’ll be in for yet another 1st round exit. - sensmelon

The Bruins are the most penalized team in the league.
The Leafs are the least penalized team in the league.

I usually agree with you, but the Leafs have had the fewest power play opportunities in the NHL this year. It counts more than the gross amount of penalty minutes, shows how many calls they get relative to other teams. Last time I checked Leafs were getting 2.48 power play opportunities per game, next closest was Pens at 2.85 per game and only 5 NHL teams were under 3.00 per game. Not that close.

And what exactly did it have to do with the second period or the officiating? He got a 5 minute penalty, will probably be suspended for a game. Leafs remain relatively speaking the most penalized team in the league - by far - does that make any sense?
Kronwall's hit on Matthews was much worse and he got 2 minutes and not even a garlic breath from Gary Bettman for it. - winsix

That funny, never said that. That's dumb.
He makes mistakes though, and it's idiotic to suggest otherwise - burn
Every coach will make mistakes.
But also a lot of these “mistakes” you are referring to is just a disagreement on his opinion.
You wanting a different 4th line player isn’t right nor wrong. |

So you satisfied that the leafs chose to keep an inferior player? That's ok to you? They traded a guy to make room for nylander. Why not keep the better player? - burn
Personally I think they are both near similar in terms of talent. It doesn’t change much if you have one or the other in.
So, you look at salary numbers.
Ennis is playing for the league minimum. The leafs can resign him to the league minimum.
Leivo currently has a 950k cap hit plus will need to receive a qualifying offer of 1 million at least. So the Leafs just saw two players that bring around the same to the team and picked the one that is easier on the salary cap this year and beyond.
There is zero point in complaining about it. Lievo is a 4th liner. Ennis is a 4th liner. Move on |

I honestly think Ennis has been pretty decent on the 4th line.

We are paying him league minimum.
At that price, he has been fantastic. |

I agree, he’s played just fine.
I only watched bits and pieces last night...I assume Ennis was one of the 19 players that had a bad game for the Leafs so fans are looking for someone to blame. |

A difference in 300K for the Nylander contract was so important to fans but saving 300k on the 4th line doesn’t matter...

Wod's crazy thought of the day.
I'm starting to warm up to this offer sheet thingy...both Matthews and Marner. That would be like 8 1st round picks or something. Leafs could choose 8 of the best RHD available in subsequent drafts, like hoarding bastards, while avoiding the cap anxiety (Hell) altogether. Rebuild the right way...from the net out, right?
Then just sit back and watch the offer sheet winning team implode financially. Simply offer them 2 - 1st round picks back and some other garbage to take them off their hands - of course the other team has to retain some salary, and of course both M&M will only accept a trade to the Leafs. Leafs would have both Marner and Matthews back plus 4 1st round picks. Jeanyuss.
In the meantime, the Leafs would suck, which would keep a bunch of Leafs fans happy. We'd all be on the same page - having fun trolling ourselves and ragging on the poopty, but cap friendly Leafs. I might even add an alt so I could troll myself like that schizophrenic Landsbergfan guy. Leafs could even goon it up for a few years to keep other fans happy with the bottom 6 comprised of nothing but a-holes to soften the East for the return of M&M.
I might die before a Stanley Cup, but I'd go in peace knowing this all came true. |

Here's the ranking of blame.
1)Refs
2)Refs
3)Refs
4)Hyman
5)Bruins were missing too many starters -Leafs didn't think it was fair to try.
6)Refs
7)Nylander |

Leafs took them to 7 games last year and were winning the game at one point, clearly they have no shot at beating them.
Tampa similarly constructed as leafs and they beat Boston.

What do the leafs need more of right now? Size or speed?
Leivo has been the better player any way you look at it, that's not my opinion. He's bigger and more physical (something leafs lack) he's as good or better offensively and he's better defensively. Ennis bring nothing.

They aren't even close. Ennis plays with no physicallity and no defense.

Check the stats and use your eyes.
Neither player is that good at defense.
It is why they are 4th liners. |
