Babcock is annoying. Ennis is the veteran, let's play him!
- RogerRoeper

Yup. That's what it comes down to, not who earned it or who was better. Which makes the talk of which Marlies we can recall for gritt on the 4th line pointless cause he won't play them.

The reason dubas traded him was because he promised Leivo he'd move him if he wasn't playing regularly and Babcock told him that once nylander returned that he was going to play Ennis over Leivo.

Fire the GM too and Shanny, they are the controllers.

That funny, never said that. That's dumb.

He makes mistakes though, and it's idiotic to suggest otherwise

Who cares what the nucks wanted? If the nucks want Matthews we have to trade him to them?

If you have to make room for someone on the roster you have a choice between one guy playing well and contributing or someone who is garbage you didn't chose the good player to trade.

The team is better with Leivo than will Ennis.

- burn

Agreed.

Leivo provided some size and wasn't afraid to dig in the corners while Ennis is a small, skilled forward.

Guess which the Leafs need more of?

I think Ennis has played pretty well for the Leafs but he is highly replaceable with just about anyone on the Marlies. You could say the same about Leivo but it looks like the Leafs are unwilling to give Moore/Grundstrom/Marchment a shot at the moment - so why choose Ennis over Leivo? Wish I could get inside Babs head to try to make sense of it.

Are we really arguing that we should have kept a 4th line ahl/nhl'er over another 4th line nhler?
Haha.

Just like every other night....reading the posts on here, it can be really hard to tell whether they are winning or losing. Best to watch the game and make your own assumptions.

Some will never be happy.
The bipolar group are as high as a kite when they win, but suicidal when they lose a game.

Others are way smarter than the gentlemen actually running the team.

Pretty much status quo.

Any Leaf fan that was happy with the game needs a doctor. Bruins were in full goon mode, Leafs except Kadri and Hyman turtled. Penalty differential for the Leafs continues to be an issue. Leafs took too many 2 minutes for bleeding penalties.

Not happy with the game but happy they at least pushed back a little.
Kadri, Hyman, Hainsey good on them.
We are probably going to meet the Bruins in the first round so it's going to be a war.

The reference to "Some will never be happy" wasn't based on last nights game...it relates to a 20-8-1 record, now 20-9-1, a 5 game win streak prior.
Probably wouldn't be happy with a Stanley Cup - "Got lucky, or could be better".
Its more the "chronically unhappy, unsatisfiable" Leafs fans. Its a (frank)in game played by real humans - poop happens.
They take they fun out of having something pretty decent for a change with their obsessive - smarter than the professionals take on their perception of the game.

I find it amusing that Bruins fans are complaining about Hyman's hit on McAvoy on their thread. I think McAvoy is an excellent d-man, dirty as hell and runs around for sure though. Good for Hyman for taking care of business. Honestly, I turned it off after the 2nd period - watching the Leafs play shorted handed for most of the period, listening to Jim Useless and seeing goons like Backes give Andersen a full snow shower and getting away with it - was too much to bear. Only good moment in the game for me was when Kadri bounced a few knuckle sandwiches off that goon Carlo's fat head.

But is Leivo a 4th liner is the question? He is to Babcock. I am not so sure he is.
Meanwhile, Babcock has an inferior winger playing on the 1st line with Matthews.

This time last year I was questioning why Kapanen was on the 4th line. Was he a 4th liner?

Anyone else wondering why we are not stacking the lines? Evety other team does it, yes even teams viewed as better than us. So I don't get the "Depth" argument.

I agree with you. I am very happy with the team, and it is probably the smarter move to never retaliate when you feel another player or team has made a dirty play, but I've probably been exposed to too many action adventure movies in my lifetime. Honestly, I really hope Leafs consider promoting Marchment, he's a decent player and big and gritty. Could use some of that - especially when teams are permitted to take liberties with our skilled players. Bruins would have no hope of competing with the Leafs based on talent - even with their full regular line up.

That hit was late, and unnecessary...kinda stupid to be honest, but I could see the possibility of frustration getting the best of Hyman, like Kadri last year in the playoffs - "The human factor".

In terms of our centres, we are stacked, but there seems to be a useless winger on every line.

Nylander continuing with his floating routine of last year.
Anytime he goes into a corner, he distances himself from the player, and tries a remote 'alibi pokecheck'. Sure, nice shot and great pass and speed, but he's not a player that you'll win Stanley Cups with (or because of).
Refs helping Bruins quite a bit yesterday, but Leafs have to step up and make sure they are not easy targets.
Hyman gets it, and Kadri gets it.
Rest of players are either not capable of playing a physical game (Marner, Johnsson, Ennis) or too scared of the big bad Bruins.
Time to trade Willie for a physical top6 winger with a winning mentality.

Hyman saw Marner and Matthews take at least a dozen questionable hits. How many times did Matthews and Marner take cross-checks last night that weren't called. In what world should that knuckle dragging team take less pentalties than the Leafs?
