All this talk about skill winning out in 2018, but for the life of me I can't recall who won the Stanley Cup this year! They were a pure finesse team, right?? That's what these experts are telling me; only skill is needed in today's NHL so it must be true!
I just wish I could remember who finessed their way to the last Stanley Cup...

Exactly
Dont need to replace the entire team with some muckers...but a few would help. Skill wont win in the playoffs.
Brown, gautier, lindholm, ennis...all under 10 points...that "skill" can be replaced by a banger who gets 10 thhe same amount of points

If WSH wanted to play that game Kadri would just do this to Kuznetsov.

True. A diverse line-up NEVER hurt any team. Character and passion still matter, and skill is only one part of the successful equation.
Let's be real, though, a large percentage of the hockey viewing community have become soft and that also mirrors society in general today. That's too bad, but there's still a few interesting players that aren't one-dimensional in the NHL which I still enjoy watching; not many, but a few.

When Kadri is the toughest player on your team your team isn't tough. At all. If Washington played them last year they've would've steamrolled over them... again.

That's a dumb argument. Pick the last Stanley Cup champs and if you don't do everything like them you won't win even though the team who won the previous two cups are one of the softest teams with a week D good goalie and a lot of fire power up front. Sounds like another team but I cant quite put my finger on it.

Maybe, maybe not..
Leafs have a toughness issue, it will be addressed. Babs likes size. They'll pick up another Polak type and the fans will whine..
I'd like to see them call up Marchment and Borgman, and trade for Ferland. Tell Tavares and guys like Hyman and Lindholm to finish their checks and play with a little more authority...

As long as its not trading rackell and gibson for the chance to draft biggs.
