What would be a realistic price for Saad in your opinion?
- nickmo2699

Prospect (Like Nylander), Conditional 1st rd pick to start, (Lowest of the three this year), and Scandella.

Buffalo might need to add another salary piece like Girgensons or Larsson to balance out salary because they are up against the cap.

if Keith goes, hopefully something like Lindgren, Kapanen, and a 2nd/1st comes back from Toronto for him

Sabres goaltending is one of the only reasons the record is what it is right now.

Hutton and Ullmark are fine.

Pass on Crawford.

Now if Saad is available on the other hand.

- ImThatGuy

Let's talk, my friend. Haha.

Who would you move for Saad?

I'm just curious what the average Hawks fan thinks Anisimov is worth.

- jcragcrumple

Depends on a lot of different factors, just a plain trade, trade at the deadline to a true contender, trade to a contender that lacks center depth???

I think there would be some interest in DK, despite his decline. His salary is reasonable too. With #7, we would probably have to take some salary back. Don't know who would want him the way he's been playing ( look no further than Vegas'4th goal last night). Hawks could keep him through next year and expose him in the Seattle expansion draft.

Both Crow and AA may generate some interest and I think you do that this year if able to.

One of the big things too is Stan has to have a different mindset about the players he covets. Small, mobile defensemen who can't keep the opponent from camping out in front of Crow are NOT what he needs. Same for aging ex hawks that are past their prime (Kruger, Sharp, Ladd-sort of).

Last night didn't do much. Only played 2:30 in the 3rd period. Rushed him back into the lineup for some reason.

It is amazing how fast the decline has occurred. At the end of the WCF in ‘14, if the ghost of hockey seasons future would have visited us and said “enjoy it now folks, because in four years both teams will be league bottom dwellers” I don’t think anyone wouldn’t have believed it.
- Chief4Feathers

Exactly. Yeah, this decline happened extremely fast. I don’t get how a core grew of champions just throw up their hands and basically say I give up.

They(Kings) look disinterested every night they play. Not sure how exactly the hawks look but I can’t imagine anything different.
The only player that looks competitive every night would be doughty. His interviews, he even mentions this team is pretty much giving up.

I just hope they sell as many players off as possible come the draft. It’s sad to say but it needs to happen

Wow, that's crazy! At least he's got his money.

What do you mean by rushed? Injured, not practicing, not training ...?

So bowman gets a pass saying this a playoff team so they lied to us but we as fans already knew this wasn't a playoff team. So Justin does bowman get fired?

Hartman was an RFA and is very young.

Seabrook wont bring much in return, IMO.

Keith is interesting, but again he is on the downside of his career, still very good, but teams will be afraid of the drop off.

Crawford, I don't see a lot of interest in.

Again just an outside perspective.

- ImThatGuy[url]

Curious to know why you don't think there would be interest in Crawford.

He has played head and shoulders better than his numbers this season. The team D in front of him has been absolutely the worst. By the numbers, Chicago gives up more quality chances than any other NHL team, yet still well above average in stopping those chances. He is constantly holding them in games and almost all their wins lately are on his back.

Crawford has the track record of winning the cup twice.

He statistically is pretty much a top 5 goalie in the NHL the last 5-6 seasons. Mostly because he is consistent game in and game out, battles and makes the big save at the right time in big games.

I'm cool if you don't agree, but I think there would be league interest in him. His injury is behind him and he can be a true #1 and carry the load. The two sticking points are his NTC and the return you get. Goalies don't net you a good return in trade. The Hawks won't get a big return if they move him. I don't think there would be a lack of interest based on what he can do, just that the Hawks won't have a huge need to move him.

The Kings seem to be in worse shape than the Hawks, so many bad non performing contracts with older players on their books for the long term. Probably have to trade Quick just to get some relief and young talent back, maybe Muzzin too.

i don't know what Blake and Robitaille were thinking when they signed the Russian. Must have been for one last run at a Cup.

Kane could be the Herschel Walker type trade that reloads this team. Lets be realistic. This team is at least two years away from being relevant again. We need a ton of D help. Kane could bring that and alot more. Do nothing and 19/88 will languish on crap teams. Have to pull out the shovel and gut this team and rebuild.

I also try to move 2, 7 and 50 at the deadline.

- z1990z

After what they've contributed, I'd let Kane and Toews decide (which I guess is the effect of the NMCs they've got). If they want to/are willing to go, go out and get a big haul for them from a contending team at the TDL. Will break my heart, but I'd rather not see the vacant stares and obvious frustration from them watching their prime go rushing by them while on a sinking ship.

Keith has stated things similar to this after games "the NHL is not a development league, its about winning." majority of the Hawks look disinterested out there. You can really see it if guys get stuck out on a long shift. I thought I was watching Vegas run a passing drill around road cones a few times last night.

I would listen to offers for anyone at this point. Everyone is available for a price. You could get some really nice pieces back for Crow, Keith, even AA.

What are your thoughts on Blake? Do you see him as a strong enough GM to get the job done. If you haven't noticed yet, there aren't many here with a high regard for Bowman.

At at glance, this looks good. Although, I will admit, I haven't seen much of Scandella since he joined BUF last year and haven't seen CJ Smith play.

Is Scandella not playing well? Is he not top 4 quality?

Honestly. I was curious to see what kovi would do. In fact he was the kings best player before letting go Stevens. WD is a terrible coach. He didn’t even play Kovi on the PP, stuck him on the 4th line because he needs to learn to play defense. Sorry but kovi being a sniper in the NHL for many years won’t change him and that’s not why the kings brought him in. They brought him in to score and that’s what he was doing before this clown came in to coach.

Quick needs to be traded this year to get any sort of value out of him. Will be sad to see him go but they have quite a few goalies in the pipeline to make it happen. Muzzin. Toffoli. And Martinez are being shopped.

TB have had scouts at the kings games for the last couple weeks including AGM Verbeek at a couple games and the kings scouting them too.
It’ll be interesting to see if a trade actually goes down with the 2 teams up against the cap. I think Martinez goes to TB for pick, prospect and a dump contract.

They have D help coming...

As long as they dont do anything super dumb and get a top 5 pick this year they will be back in the mix in 2-3 years with Toews still useful and Kane really really good.

They don't need to gut it all just trim the fat.

There will be a season when teams that are on the playoff bubble and really want to make it will cough up good prospects and draft picks for goaltenders of Cro or Johnny Quick's pedigree. Even Jimmy Howard. This might be the year it happens.

Philly, Calgary, Florida right now. If injuries occur with other contenders there could be even more demand.

I prefer to keep Cro. He is all they have as a bona fide NHL goaltender, no short or long term replacement.

Honestly, I don’t think Blake has been tested yet. I’m waiting to see what big trade(s) he makes.

Sure he signed Kovalchuk 1 too many years but it was a move that needed to happen and they didn’t give up any assets. This move happened way before the kings decided to be a last place team. Kovi was the best player on the kings basically scoring PPG in the beginning. Then Stevens was fired and dumbass WD came into the picture. I’ve never hated a coach so much.

Again, I’m waiting to see what trades he makes. He tried hard for nylander but we all know how that went down.

Just to inject life, I'm surprised JC had not turned the 4th line loose and tell them to hammer away. Why not?
- z1990z

Me too. Especially seeing how effective the Vegas 4th line is. The Hawks didn't have an answer for it, why not try to use their own with the same strategy.

There is nothing left that is tradeable. Most of that is the result of player management decisions over the last few years.
- 67hawks

I wouldn’t go that far, there are tradable pieces. What’s going to make this year interesting is the playoff picture is going to be settled early for the most part. At least as far as the teams that are going to be in and out.
