Rather then lament the demise of the Hawks I think our focus should be on helping John McD keep the house near capacity since the band-wagon fans have now all bailed and are now rabid Bears fans.

I propose:

Reaching out to Jaromír Jágr or Jarome Iginla to see if they would do us the honor of wearing the Indianhead sweater. Think of the feel-good stories. "Grizzled vet returns for one last moment of glory", "veteran presence", etc...

or:

Orval Tessier or Alpo Suhonen return as honorary bench coach for a game.

or:

One Last Shift for Tim Trimper or Pat Ribble or (my favorite) Dave Logan.

- Rota's Rooter

Just my opinion, but the hawks have been in decline for the past 3 years and even though we are blessed with a great run with 3 Stanley cups , throughout Stans tenure the fans have all witnessed Stans performance and ability to over pay certain guys while hyping up low hanging fruit.

No fan wants to watch a team that is beyond atrocious, especially knowing that this problem has never been addressed in the season prior when this team got smoked , then failed to make the post season the following year and went into the off season with no change or drastic improvement, just flat out smoke being blown up people's butts , then to fire a hall of fame coach and make a junior AHL coach with limited experience the future while propping him up and telling the fans this team is a playoff team, while getting blown out badly even after a coaching change was made.

People pay to watch and go see teams that are fun , competitive especially when those ticket prices are steep. If a team shows lack of winning or fixing the issue fans new and old will stop watching.

Kahun, Fortin and Hayden make the sell only if a great deal list? Sorry but those 3 stiffs are bottpm of the roster players that wouldnt pull much better than a 4th rounder each. At best they are throwins in multi player deals.
- RickJ

Kahun has played 30 games, Fortin even less, and Hayden has played 80 games with 20 points. I'm not willing to abandon young talent on ELC deals (Kahun's is weird) because the team is a dumpster fire. What's one thing that every other team has that seems to get thrown in our face every night? Home grown talent.

I'm holding onto my young home grown talent unless a good deal comes along. Fortin has speed but can't finish, give him time to figure it out. Hayden has flashes of solid bottom 6 grinder. Kahun I still really like, does a lot of little things well.

If I had to pick one to keep, Kahun.

There is NO way Winnipeg trades Liane for Saad...that is asinine to suggest lmao.
I feel Keith for Trouba is a great deal for both teams however.

- DixieDog

I wouldn't say it's asinine, teams that are looking to make a run and tryingmto trade to shore up have less advantage and get fleeced. Saad for laine isn't a bad offer it's a starting piece. What's your solution to improve this team

Last night was better.

On a high note it looks like they have a player in Strome and if he gets his fitness up a bit and fills out that frame he will be a very good hockey player. Maybe somewhere around a Johansen or Spezza type. He always seems to be in the right spot and being just a little stronger on his skates and able to start and stop with out huffing and puffing after a few direction changes and i think you start to see some dominant shifts more consistently there.

I think they pick up some points against Montreal but if they're going to make a roster move make it now. The rest of December is horrific qualcomp wise and a lot of games over two weeks.

Now. Skating Kane 27 minutes is ridiculous in a season that is already lost. Also, Gus skating 26 and Lil Henri skating 12 blows my mind. The TOI management and line combinations make my brain hurt. Unless they're showcasing guys as throw ins this doesn't make a lot of sense.

However, AA looks spry AF and finishing some dope goals. Definitely some value there.

- fattybeef

Very good at generating scoring chances for himself and his line mates. Keep him with DCat, as they seem to feed off one another. That's the basis for a solid #2 line in a year or 2.

RickJ - “insanely stupid bone head.” Sadly your words about Gus are very true. It is painful to watch his play drag everyone around him down. JC has been making poor decisions with his backing of Gus at the top of the List.
- Z3Hawk

Bigger picture - the defence corps is probably the most important part of any NHL team. Who the hell is coaching this group now - JC, Barry Smith or more likely nobody? Dineen and Mike Kitchen must be laughing their asses off watching this on ice nonsense. Gus wouldnt get away with what he does out there on any other team in this league.

Please just bring in somebody like Larry Robinson or John Paddock.

**Looks around**

Hawks lost...

**Looks around some more**

Yup sky is still completely falling for most people

Can't wait for the Hawks to play well and end the losing streak for the glimmer of hope and optimism to return

Gonna need a dramamine for the roller coaster ride the board goes through each game lol

At least he is of the Seabrook for Petterson deal with Vancouver. I think we should ask for Blake Wheeler for Kamph as well.

Isolating on the Bottom 6 comments (which are shared by many around the league) you wonder why they don't at least shuffle the deck with some of the Rockford crew....unless they are marginally worse? That would speak to an unbelievably depleted F corp on the farm. If I'm DeBrincat's agent, I'm licking my chops because the Hawks will probably overpay on his next deal due to the dearth of F talent in the pipeline.
- phantasmo

They cant score in Rockford either lol.

DeBrincat could and should get paid. The Schmaltz deal got two forwards for one and that was specifically to address the lack of forward talent near NHL ready in the pipe.

Personally, Id rather see some of the young defenders cycle in and out as that is a bigger issue then the forward group and they need to see what they have there.

Not a good season to be a Hawk fan.

Total shiiit show.

Moved on from the HOF coach, time to do the same with the core.

Toews, CC, Seabs should all go - and perhaps Keith as
Simply no room for two 10 million dollar contracts on a 30th place team!

PK, Dcat and the new young picks are the only ones worth keeping.

Everyone else expendable.

- Hawkster

Why the love for Kane? Hasn’t scored in ages and Toews is tied with him for goals, he’s floating more than anyone and his shot has been brutal, Toews had a great game last night, Kane was a no show, especially on the winning goal in his own end.

Seems fair, but Vancouver would probably have to throw in Boeser and/or Horvat too.

It is completely asinine to think Winnipeg, within their division, would trade their best player for a middle line forward. If Laine were to be traded, it would be outside the Western Conference let alone the Central.

25 years ago would you suggest that the Jets would trade Teemu Sellane?

Laine has as much chance of moving as I do playing for the Hawks this year.

If Winnipeg wants Saad it would take more than Laine, they would need to throw in Connor and Morrisey.

You should really get out from mommy and daddy's house and stop watching the paint dry, it's clouding your judgement.

If you have something to add to the conversation say it otherwise trying to slander someone shows just how shallow and ignorant you truly are.

You should try watching a hockey game and learning about the sport and other teams numb nuts. You're the biggest joke on here

FWIW, Bettman has what he's wanted, no dynasties.

Of the Top 10 teams, 6 were awful a few years ago: TOR, COL, CLG, BUF, WPG, CBJ.

The 2 worst teams (LAK & CHI) won 5 of the 6 SCs between 2010-15. And PIT now ranked 20th) looks to be headed down as well, after their 2 recent Cups.

And, interestingly, it's not only about the draft (see EDM).

Right on! And on top of that, I really think the owners are ok with it. Someone needs to know if Rocky is ok with this.

I think Kane, Toews, Keith stay. They probably will start preliminary talks with Crow about an extension. If the price is too high they trade him before the TDL or in the summer. Seabs they probably would like to move, but it may be hard to find a taker with eating a lot of salary or throwing in a sweetener.

Is the defensive scheme run around your zone like a chicken with your head cut off? It looks like 10 year old hockey. Everyone chase the puck. No one has their head on a swivel. No one picks up the open man. I cannot remember ever seeing so many times where both defenders (and sometimes the center or a forward) are in the same corner while opposing forwards camp out in our crease or the high slot. Last night Mannning followed the puck out to the point on the PK. You do not see that very often.

I am liking the play of Kahun and Kampf.

Everyone mocks AA, but I think he is playing pretty good. I think he will get a 3rnd round pick before the TDL.

You send Gus to the press box because of his poor defense. Then the next game you bring him back and play him on his off side. I am not sure I understand the logic there.

I hope Murphy clicks with Colliton. Either improve our D or improve his trade value.

Burrish made an interesting point in the post game about how so few Hawks (forwards and defenders) are willing to block shots. That is a sign that they do not care enough to do what it takes to win.

Colliton is going to kill Kane with the minutes he is playing. That is just plain stupid. It is not like playing him 27 minutes a night will make us a playoff team.

Roll 4 lines. The 2 top lines are gassed by the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period. They make a valiant comeback, but have nothing left in the tank.

Hayden should not be playing on the top lines or PP.

Yeah Kane totally isn't worth his contract (Looks at 2016 awards lineup: Hart, Ross, Lindsay). He hasn't averaged a Point Per Game over his whole career... oh wait he has.

Guy is over a point per game on the worst team in the league.

Go get your f%&#ing shine box.
