"For whatever reason the last few games, teams probably sense that we're a little vulnerable and they come out really hard," coach Jeremy Colliton said. "We need to match and exceed that intensity. If it means playing 25-30 seconds like it's the last minute of the game, that's what we got to do."

gee...ya think

Hey Bogie...

It's a wish list. My actual expectations are much more modest.

Let's start with a front office purge and go from there shall we.

oh yeah...i get it...

kane/toews...no way they are the face/body/soul of the blackhawks...
craw?? possible he would bring the most and if he goes the rebuild is on
keith since his 2015 con smythe performance he is an enigma, play has dropped, his shot selection sucks, he stuck playing with ahl losers...ya kinda wonder if he would like to say cya...he would be nice addition to a younger talented contender
seab: salary retention may get you some picks or bottom six wing or 5-6 dman...i don't know if you gain much

Keith's indifferent play is hard to understand. I want to believe he is just bored playing on a squad with a non-competitive roster. But if the competion really ramped up he could and would ramp his game up too. Now I'm not sure.

I'd like to see him as a 3/4 D on Winnipeg's blueline paired with Myers or Buff.

And out on the ice in the last minute of tie game - because an inexperienced/unqualified coach thought it was a good idea.
- Chief4Feathers

Martinsen was brutal. As was Fortin. Yes when you are trying to get to OT have your two worst players on the ice. To flail away and do nothing. Then say in Presser when asked about it, something like “well you gotta have someone out there.”

Before the winning goal was scored Martinsen was doing his very best to get a penalty - I couldn’t believe what I was watching.

Gotta get to OT. As Eddie kept pointing out Colliton refused to use his Time-Out to rest his PP. Colliton is swimming. The Hawks should admit that this was a disastrous move and correct it. Get new Coaching Staff and also move out Mr. Nepotism StanBo.

Scratch, because Fortin drew back in.
- I Am The Breadman

Yes draw Fortin back in, who is as far away from being an NHL player as it is possible to be. Like Colliton Fortin got to the NHL without ever proving he belonged in the NHL. When Fortin plays it is like the Hawks grabbed someone from a beer league. Has no skill whatsoever.

He could give a better assessment of Gus. Other than that I like him. He is not in a position to succeed, but any Q replacement wouldn't be either.
- I Am The Breadman

Breadman we will never know what a quality experienced Coach, with a different approach than Q, would have done. Nobody is forcing Colliton to coach as if he is clueless - he is coaching as if he is clueless because he is clueless. I find him embarrassing and I think the players agree.

Martinsen didn't lose the game
the powerless power play did

JC is trying to send a message to Rocky
we suck, stan and mcd need to go

- gazza53

The PP could have won the game but didn’t. However, it was still 2-2 and the Hawks needed to get to OT no matter what. To ensure this Colliton put the Hawks two worst players on the ice, Martinsen and Fortin and as should have been expected the whole ice was left open. Then Colliton said in the Presser -“well you gotta have someone out there.” Just when you think it is as crazy as it can be Colliton takes us deeper into the abyss.

It is actually crazy to watch Fortin play. He has no co-ordination and trying to do things fast only makes it crazier. Did nothing at Rockford last year or in short time this year. Did not earn the NHL.

One thing though ... Martinsen is the guy who got sucked in to nearly the goal line. Ok, this dude is a winger - so what gives with that?

I mean what do you do if (well when really, let's be serious), get the puck if you are a Canadiens' forward? Easy - an area pass to your point ... they did that - their point guy had all day to pick out a screen and blast it ... did that - and there's your game winning goal right there.

I mean I guess the obvious rejoinder to that is: 'well, they need to be doing some basic winger coverage' ... maybe they don't do that over in the get the the SEL level over in Sweden... but, you know... this is the NHL. If that works here ... then I mean, well ... it wouldn't be the NHL, would it?

How many games have we won in regulation? Counting under Q as well? ... It is kind of scarey how bad this record would be in the days before OT, let alone stunt OT...

Now here's the thing ... these guys are so into losing ... they'd lose the lottery too in order to top off their year.

Did Seabrook really get 9 minutes plus of PP time.

Why? I mean the over using a guy stunt hasn't worked with Kane, are we now doing it with Seabrook?

Ok -let's set all of this aside for a second and look at the marketing possibilities here...

McD could actually decide to have a give away at, like say a local supermarket (I'll maybe date myself with this one) - but do it at a Dominick's or a Jewel ... win a chance to coach the game for a night... combine it with dollar beer night, and maybe a bobble head of something or a floppy hat night, and you got a winner I think...

Four years of lower tier Swedish Beer League and 1 year of AHL does NOT an NHL Coach make. It is time to acknwledge this huge mistake. It is not fair to players of any age but is especially unfair to the proud veterans. Clean house - new GM, new Coaching Staff.

I wonder what their record would be in the last 20 games if they didn't get down at least 2-0 early. Even if it was 1-0 they would have won some of those games.

The guy who posted about bad teams finding a way to lose explains the situation pretty well.

Agree on Fortin, he looked better when he was came to camp as a junior player.

The only way they got as good as they did 10 years ago was to be as bad as they were for a decade before that. Good head start to the next run if management can get out of it's own way. It's hockey, think dressing room, not corporate board room.

They’ve won 5 in regulation.

In the olden days, their record would be 5-17-9=19 in 31 games.

Too much change - head coach, assistant bench coaches, probably the last straw - the one that sent the team reeling - was Cornellison upper body injury....

I know those hats went into the early 80s - because I got one as a kid at Wrigley. Raised a Cubs fan, family went to a game - dad asks me if I want a hat - and I pick a Pirates old-school stove pipe with the pin stripes.
- Chief4Feathers

I really like those late 70's early 80's Pirates teams. The funky uniforms, Willie Stargell winding up like a clock in the batter's box, ex-Cub Bill Madlock winning batting titles, the whole "We Are Family" thing. Oh and those crazy ugly Houston Astros uniforms.

I think the offense is the Bears Achilles Heel...at least this season.

Thrilled they're competitive and hope it progresses into next year.

- ArlingtonRob

Idk about that. Trubisky hasn't played in like 3 weeks and just got back into practice and throwing this week. Is anyone surprised he looked rusty, out of rhythm and was overthrowing wide open guys like he was the first few games of the season?

It's not like the Rams D sucks and Mitch was looking good before he got hurt...and even though he was off last night, they showed they could run when Nagy stuck with it.

Granted it was a home game but, last night showed they can pretty much play with anybody.

Also, two weeks in a row where a dominant defense stuffed a high octane offense (DAL 13 - NO 10, last week).

...let's see if they can avoid their usual 4th quarter fade.

I'm willing to give JC a pass the rest of the season. He knows how to coach, but the nhl is different and there are mistakes here and there. We aren't going anywhere this season. Who even knows if he's making the calls back there? I'd like 2 different people around him and could help him more, hell, even mentor him more. The players might not start the game, but they fight back, that is a welcome sight. Now, close out the game.

To your comment on Fortin, I wouldn't mind him in Rockford. He isn't creating chances, he's not finishing his own chances, he looks like he moves too fast for his own good, and he's over thinking at the slightest bit of contact. I like him, but this season was too soon.

Make it part of the “authentic fan” promotion from the commercials. I absolutely want to see that guy with the Hawks suit and bird hat behind the bench for a game.

“That’s ok boys, wait till next season.”
