The Canadiens gave up on Martinsen 2 years ago when they were near the bottom of the standings. Now he has a roster spot in Chicago.

And out on the ice in the last minute of tie game - because an inexperienced/unqualified coach thought it was a good idea.

'83 was a terrific season that ended on a sour note...but man 'o man I hated those uniforms.
- ArlingtonRob

LOL yea they were bad, but that was early 80s...lots of teams had garish unis. Sox, Houston and Padres are 3 that came to mind. I guess the Sox dumped them not long after, late 80s they went to something else and then finally got to the cool unis we now have in the 90s at some point.

1994 Sox is another one. The strike year. I felt like that team was starting to peak then they strike.

Black Sox, Winning Ugly, 94 strike just shows God does not want us Sox fans to have nice things, but then 2005.

But that was also the era of the Pirates stove pipe/pin stripe hat - which was awesome.

Ya ok ..I still think Q had to go . I did not recommend JC ,although I thought he would be ok
- oldduffman

You thought Colliton would be OK on the basis of what? He has no credentials at this point for being an NHL coach. And that's not being unfair, it's the facts. What is unfair is that he was put into the position he is in.

Anytime this new coaching staff wants to take Toews off the first PP he’s useless he won’t shoot and won’t take the puck to the net. At least Strome can get himself open to shoot. And he’s got a much better shot.

4-5 times he could’ve taken the puck to the net Bc Hayden was occupying the defenseman and didn’t.

- bhawks2241

And DBC sat wide open in the left circle the whole PP while Kane and Toews played keep away and Seabs shot his all-too-predictable and stoppable shot from the point.

I guess I have never understood "thinking outside the box". Maybe he thought Martinsen was Bobby Hull and would take the puck on an end to end rush and blow a slapper past Price to tie or win the game.

Yes and the SportsNet crew called out the Hawks for making Price’s job easy with no screen on any of those outside shots!

11 SATs for Seabrook tonite - 9 blocked, 1 on net.

TBF - those 3rd period PPs when he was just jacking them up, looking for deflections or rebounds - but the didn’t get them, and Price didn’t have to touch any but one of them.

Hayden was there. The problem with this dumb 1-3-1 umbrella crap is that the Pk can just stack guys up the middle. Can’t get a point shot from there and can’t go cross ice for one timers. If Toews won’t take the puck to the net down low it’s basically 4 on 4. Notice how no one goes to cover Toews down low. He could just stand there with the puck for 2 minutes and no one would come cover him.

Seabrook is getting huge run, thinking they are show casing him for a trade. Don't think anyone will touch that horrific deal, but may as well try.

Figured that's what he was trying for, but after it not working the first 4x, Kane should have been looking to DBC or another shooter (or shooting himself!! THAT actually worked).

Last place only gives you an 18.5% chance at the first pick. It’s not a lock.
- Chief4Feathers

You know if the Hawks finish last they won’t win the lottery, they’ll drop to fourth (I think that’s the worst the last place team can do).

I know those hats went into the early 80s - because I got one as a kid at Wrigley. Raised a Cubs fan, family went to a game - dad asks me if I want a hat - and I pick a Pirates old-school stove pipe with the pin stripes.

So did a bunch of other rock bottom teams on Kruger shipping him to AHL. Yet here we are.

I agree with you DBC was wide open on that power play. IMO , Toews and Kane are like oil and water...they don't mix on power plays.

Roquan Smith is becomming a player. Pro bowl within 3 years, potential team Captain. An absolute home run draft pick.

They had Hayden (I think) at the net - probably should have been another red sweater - certainly should have been more movement fro 19 / 88 / 12 so it would be so predictable. Habs just lined up to a stationary Seabrook and waited for shot blocking practice.
