College administrator but I do teach a few classes every year. Technically not faculty, though. Don't have my PhD. Too lazy to pursue one and I got 3 kids to focus on when away from campus.

Best way forward for the Blackhawks is they have/get the next Hossa. It would be awesome if this was a package that came in one player. Likely, reality suggests it will end up being more than one, ie, a guy who is really great on the backcheck and another guy who is superlative at board work and can maintain possession off the wall into a quality offensive chance.
Moving current high dollar 'Hawks is incumbent on the other team having the cap space to absorb the contract. This likely means contracts will be coming back. Therefore, I'm ok with the core guys staying if they can play a key role in being elder skatesmen on a future competitive team. Reality also states there is likely but a small chance of a possible trade along the lines of the Cowboys trading Herschel Walker can be consummated, given the NHL's hard cap.

That's awesome!!! Well the not faculty part isnt, I've heard professors complain about that. There are a lot of Phd's that are dumber than me, and I'm looking at smart in the rear view mirror. Still cool to know AEL, what subject? Something on the business side or management? Kid thing can be a problem, 4 that are my sister's live with me. Almost 13 years and counting.

Agree, he's in a hard to win position, if the young ones
start performing then their is room for hope.

What I think might help is if he went with same 3 lines for
5 games or so, only fiddle with the 4th, same goes for the D
and then start tinkering. Only flaw to this is not many will be
slotted where they belong.

Exactly, that's what I would want as well: roll out a more stable lineup for a few weeks by slotting players where they are most likely to succeed in the long runand that is their water level at the NHL level.

For example, while I somewhat understand Kampf playing some 2C as a reward for his strong play, he will never be a top 6 center in the NHL. Maybe in the AHL but not at the highest level. Instead, play Strome at 2C and run with it so that he can develop in to the role that he is projected by many to be in.

Even if Strome plays 3C, he and Anisimov should be the candidates for middle 6 centers. Kampf should play no higher than 3rd line on a regular basis. Once Colliton has appropriate player personnel, Kampf would be stellar at 4C replacing Kruger by next season.
