Problem with scouting anywhere in Chicago (Or Rosemont) is that Chicago is a hub, a lot of teams will have face to face meetings here regardless of who is playing. So there is that.

He's got some tough competition but the fact that this year's tournament is on North American ice (Vancouver/Victoria) he has a better shot as a bigger guy.

Shed salary and lose games. Identify a few keepers ( Kane , Debrincat, ) and tear down and build back up. Need to add young star forwards to go with the young d in the system

Isn't he on a line with Keller and Galchenyuk? High talent, but talent he's less likely to defer to too frequently. Plus, bitterness is a great motivator.

Hitchcock is a good example of a team - Oilers - changing coaches and going with a very experienced coach. While I believe the 3 Cup veteran make-up of the Hawks screamed a need for an new experienced coach with a different message, it just didn’t seem right that Hitchcock should replace Q. Too much history. Someone like Hitchcock yes - Hitchcock himself no.

However, a total inexperienced coach with only 1 year of high Swedish coaching and only 1 year of AHL coaching - NO! It is a joke actually. Combine that with 2 suspect and suspicious assistants and the Hawks could not look more unprofessional.

A final point. If it comes to pass that the Hawks turn it around and start heading in the other direction, it will come from the players, who will persevere in spite of the coaches.

Probably the best forward prospects are Sikura, Kurashev, Barratt, Hagel, and Entwistle and none of those guys are "sure things" - let alone top-6 sure things. Maybe there's a diamond in the rough there but that's not something to be counted on. The Hawks really need to draft a top-6 center they can count on to take over for Toews in a few years.

It’s funny you mention Chicken Fat, because I was just reading about foie gras and came across the Yiddish tradition of cooking with poultry fat or “Schmaltz” as they say.

(Yes, I suffer from insomnia on occassion and get pretty deep into the rabbit hole on Wikipedia.)
