Fans need to realize that he might just be one of those guy's who can't hack it in NYC on a original 6 club. Add into the fact that he's been terrible since his World Cup
tournament from the summer of 2017. Prior to that he was in a sheltered role and he now has the weight of knowing that a supreme player like McD is gone because of his " ceiling " which got rewarded by a car pay check last summer. I would love to see if Oiler's or the Ducks would give up Darnell or Manson for Zucc and Skjei. I know one is a top 4 and the other one is a bottom 4 but within 2-3 year's, stay at home D men like that will go with the prospect and Pionk or ADA right now. Ducks want a LHD, I'll take Manson's stay at home approach at 27 yrs old.

Right now he wouldn't be able to hack it on the 2014 or 15 teams. I wouldn't want him over someone like Klein or even Hunwick who played a key role in that 2015 team. This is NYC, if you can't hack it right away than you get shipped out.

He's not like KH who can come in and play arguably the hardest position on the fly and never look back. Imo he never earned his stripes.. He's not Pionk who took some time to get accustomed to things and is good at least with 1 or 2 things. ADA and Pionk OZ games and puck movement easily beat out Skjei's overall games. People think just because he's young that he still has time. If JG gets wind of someone like Karlsson and Panarin picking the NYR's as the sweepstakes winner's, than Skjei is finished. Mark my word's... I can already see them not buying out Staal and resigning Hayes.

Don't kid yourselves. If they're at that point with him than they will most likely be secretly shopping him as we speak. Expect Brooks to float it around along with Trade Rumors. Skjei reminds me of Frank from the Knicks except that Frank is a world class defender. What Skjei can do in the OZ is nothing more than what Shatty, ADA and Pionk can do on a daily basis.

Certain Knicks fans keep thinking that the management will get to a certain point and say oh well when Frank's 24-25 and still hasn't mature. NYC or a FO in general will try to sell their younglings as a project " that hasn't work out yet ".

I could see Skjei being traded like that ^ along with the idea that his clause kicks in soon. Regardless of this season, he will have until 2020 trade deadline to get his act together. Claesson's age and pick up doesn't help and it's not like they're going to put Skjei in a bottom 4 sheltered pair.
