I feel like G is being used more in PK recently which is why it has improved. I could be wrong though...
- FlyersGrace

Yep the return of G to the PK rotation definitely has had an impact on the PK.

He has and he deserves most of the credit. He has brought the aggressiveness to it. He has led the way there. Both up ice and in the zone.

RE JVR

JVR is not the kind of player who is going to create his own offense, he needs to have a quality playmaker who can feed him the puck where he likes it, in order for him to score with any regularity.

- BiggE

As far as I can tell, the Flyers are fresh out of silver platters. JVR needs to become visible. Now.

Both G and Coots had 22+ minutes of ice time because of their use on PK. It's working for the PK but hurting us in other areas. Jake had 20 minutes of ice time but I noticed a few times earlier in the game that he was extending his shift to try and make something happen. Almost cost us.

The issue with this team is that they really only have one player who generates offense regardless of who he plays with and that's Giroux.

Konecny and Voracek are both good offensive players but have produced a lot less when separated from Giroux.

I think you load up the second line with your next best group of offensive talent JVR-Patrick-Voracek. Give them a lot of o-zone starts and hope they produce.

Lindblom-Laughton-Simmonds
Weisse-Lehtera-Raffl

Both the 3rd and 4th lines will be defensively responsible lines. Run with those lines for the road trip and see what happens. If they do not get secondary scoring they are done.

- mickel25

Agree, team needs either a top six center or move Giroux to center and get a top line winger. Easier said than done but that's what they need. Outside of solid goaltending of course.

What do you guys think? I still think the Jets will be forced to trade Trouba in the summer. would Trouba for Patrick and Myers be fair on your end? I think this has the Jets taking more risk. You could then have a top four of Provy/Trouba and then Sanheim/Ghost. It brings Patrick home to /Winnipeg and we hope he develops into a solid 2nd line center and Myers gives us a young d we hope develops into a top 4 option or at the very least very solid bottom pair guy.

As good as Stolie played it would be great to have a goalie that doesnt always give up a bad goal like that first one.
- opeth_pa

I agree. Stolarz is still very green. He's learning the NHL game on the fly. Weak goals suck, but at least I understand why his happen.

That said, I think he's still the best option for the Flyers right now. His game seems calm, and I see confidence building each game.

JvR, G, Jake
Lindblom, Patty, TK
Laughton/Weal, Coots, Simmer
Raffl, Lehtera/Laughton, Weise

JVR is unnoticed because he needs someone to get him the puck where he can score. I hate moving G to center but he is the only option right now. I truly believe that Patty is being hurt by having JvR and Simmer as wingers. Let the young kids play together for a few weeks.

Josh Anderson owned us last night. Someone needed to take care of that.

Agreed. He has only played a handful of games over the past two seasons. I like what I see from him in terms of confidence, positioning, and movement. He let up that stinker but battled back immediately. Unless there is a move to be made, I like Stolie as an option for the rest of this year.

Let’s hope all that talk about pushing for the playoffs this season is just corporate speak.

The correct move is to let this tire fire burn for a bit. Salvage the correct pieces from the ashes and make smart moves at the deadline. Then it’s a race to the bottom for Hughes.

There isn’t a goalie available right now that is significantly better than what is in house that wouldn’t cost key assets. Same with forwards and defenseman for that matter.

Maybe I started drinking too soon this morning but I feel you could make those trades and still be able to make the playoffs this year.
- J35Bacher

Depends on what you get. If you can get Duechene and Stone for Jake, Simmer, and Myers then sure.

Giroux Patrick Konecny
JVR Coots Voracek
Lindblom Weal Simmer
Raffl Laughton Weise

Ppl gonna go apepoop over Weal being there, but we know that L3 has some chemistry from earlier this year. They didn't score many goals, but they were good at creating chances.

Laughton at 3C doesn't seem to be working.

I was at the game and turned to my friend and said "No 28-93-53?". I didn't get that at all
- nastyflyergirl

I hate getting involved with the line discussion but here is what I want to see. Providing JVR is okay with playing the right side.

Giroux-Couturier-JVR
Voracek-Patrick-Konecny
Limblom-Laughton-Simmonds
Raffl-Lehtera-Weise.

- MJL

I get the JVR and moving TK. G can play with anyone and you hope TK can spark the 2nd line. I wouldnt be opposed to it, need to try something, they need more than 1 line.

if not moving G to center, you could also try

G Patrick TK
JVR Coots Jake

Coots might be able to carry a line.

Yes, unlike in the Ottawa game when he let up the second goal. I think it really rattled him and he didn't recover and they went on to lose.

How can you possibly have a lineup where Couturier is playing behind Patrick?
