As good as Stolie played it would be great to have a goalie that doesnt always give up a bad goal like that first one.
I equally blame Coots and Provy on that OT goal.Coots more for making a bad pass (easy to see on TV probably less easy to see as a player) and then getting beat on the boards.
Looks like another high producing season for Giroux as he is now well above a PPG this season. Not much to say on G other than love watching him play. - opeth_pa
Stolie did give up the bad one, but stopped several that another goalie may not have.
I still hope he gets in a groove moving forward.
If he can manage to keep his save % at .91 plus it gives them a shot at winning every night. |

He was poor on all three regulation goals against last night while contributing nothing offensively. - Feanor
Whatever, the first one was hardly his doing.
I'm not his fan club, but this team has more issues over MacDonald.
He played well last night, he"s not an offensive dynamo we know that, but no teams have 6 offensive D men. |

Until Morin can show he is healthy, your either going with Folin or MacDonald. So which scapegoat do people want in the lineup?

Stolie went down to .90 because of last night.
3 games doesn't tell the complete story of what he can do.
Where is Elliott & his .91% anyway? And is he able to sustain those numbers with consistency, or staying healthy?
I mention Anderson taking runs all night, and you bring up a Sanheim, vs AMac comparison?
First time I'm in here in 4 years & you troll everything I say.
Hockeybuzz hasn't changed a bit.

Over usage of the Hagg-MacDonald pairing at ES is entirely down to Hakstol. No one can blame Hextall anymore. - Feanor
It's about matchups. I'm wondering when you're going to start blaming the players for anything? It's as if Hakstol is out there with skates and a sweater playing. This is becoming on the same level of irrational thought as team negative offers.

Definitely not Folin.
I know MacDonald has his limitations but he wasn't horrible last night.
I know, he's not Sanheim, I know. |

Hagg was out of position (too aggressive) on 2/3 goals.
The Dubinsky goal, AMac lost his stick after he blocked what looked like a sure goal by Panarin a few secs earlier. He was kinda helpless after that.
I don't like AMac, but I thought he was OK. He even made a few aggressive/physical plays along the boards.
Hagg was the weak link last night. Not that putting those two together was a good idea in the first place. |

You have to do a better job of keeping hold of your stick as a dman. It's not like someone slashed it out of his hands.

Hagg and MacDonald aren't a good matchup against other team's top lines. They get shredded. |

Agree.
Also I feel the forwards could be better defensively. Sometimes i feel errors happen but really it started with the forwards and the defensman ends up the scapegoat. |

Bill Meltzer: Wrap: Flyers Comeback Yields One Point in 4-3 OT Loss to Columbus - bmeltzer
I don’t think anything will be taken away from this game when chuck Fletcher and Rick Wilson walked away from the rink last night. I’m sure they know how the goals were caused. Penalties. Lack of shots in the first half of the game, which wouldn’t matter who was in net. To me it’s same old. To them, it’s a process...
Stolarz has been great! I expect him to be a regular next season. |

Sure, but it happens. You kinda wish AMac had a bit more man-strength to cancel out Dubinsky w/o a twig, but he is what he is.
I'm more worried about Ghost at this point. He looks neutered, completely sans mojo. |

Here is the bottom line. Until the Flyers get their defense where it needs to be, which is only going to happen over time as players develop, they're going to have to use players in roles they really shouldn't be. For example in my opinion, Hagg has no business playing with Provorov. He's a 3rd pair defenseman in my opinion. MacDonald wasn't great last night but he wasn't awful either. He is normally sound and you can get by with him in a top 4 role. Ideally, you'd like player who make more an impact on the game in those spots. We saw a glimpse of what Sanheim can offer last night. |

I’m also needing to point out that Lindblom on the fourth line seems like such a waste of his talent... |

So true with this team a little more help from forwards like Jake, JvR, Simmonds would probably go a long way to solving some of the issues with D and Goalies. |

Sanheim-Gudas could be used as the second pairing.
The new GM could also promote Myers or Friedman.
There are plenty of other options that to just keep doing what has put the team in the 25th spot after 26 games. |

Depends on your definition of shredded. They normally do a good job of keeping the puck out of their net. This is the problem with analytics and how their used. Players are all judged by the same benchmarks. A team has the players they have. I assumed you were aware that matchups doesn't mean utopia, it means the give and take of matchups relative to the players you have and to put them in the best situation you can. Considering all factors.

I agree with you that the Flyers need to get their defense where it needs to be. So my question to everyone is, why isn’t Sanheim getting the Gostisbehere and Provorov treatment? If I believe and you believe Sanheim is the real deal, what’s the problem? |

Complete confidence issue with Gostisbehere. No swagger. Indecision with the puck.

I believe Fletcher said he will look at in house options first. He will probably use this upcoming road trip to evaluate. I'd expect to see some changes to the roster when they return home on December 18. |
