Kempe interest me, can skate and has some size. I think they could work a package and get him in it.
I actually think they would listen on Carter. - wcorvette

It's not a system and usage issue. It's a player issue. That's clear. There is no system that will work without the players behind it.
Does best players available mean the most talented, the players the fans like the best, or the actual best players? - MJL

why I said a package, he only has 8 points, I am sure the Flyers can create a package and send back younger players or a combination of picks and players. |

Now if we can get him to look at the same stats that Feanor does, we'll be golden. - MJL
see, they are only 2 steps away from contention...

Is "golden" above 25th in Points% a 31 team league?
Or above 28th in PP%?
Or above 30th in PK%? - Feanor
That PK should go up some with the recent improved performance.
PP is still a dumpster fire.. |

It has gone up, but it's still 30th. Only the Ottawa Ubers are worse. |

not sure I agree but Cohen on XM this AM said that the Flyers are absolutely playing the wrong system. I don't buy it or think Cohen knows the answer but it is out there |

I don't.
Unacceptable that this team is vying for a lottery pick. Even if it's going to help it's still not good. The team should be trending forward. Not regressing. |

I've heard that Cohen has been a close candidate for a number of NHL coaching jobs but has narrowly missed out on getting the jobs. I'd love to hear his explanation. |

I don't disagree but lets be honest. This team is not going anywhere this year. The playoffs are a long shot. They aren't going to be able to trade their way out of this in season. I'll take a lottery pick out of it.

Remember at the start of the season when everyone agreed that the Flyers had assembled a bottom 10 roster, and a lottery pick was the only feasible outcome because of Hextall's gross mismanagement and that he would inevitably be fired by Christmas? |

I understand you can't trade your way out of it. But I think you can trade to make the team better and still compete for the playoffs.
If we are looking for a lottery pick then there should be no hesitation in moving guys like Voracek and Simmonds this year.
If this team regressed that bad to be a lottery team then firing Hextall was the correct move. The team he constructed is failing and failing to take steps forward. |

You guys can keep rearranging the forward lines all you want. Until we change the system being used, nothing will change. This is strictly a system and usage issue. Fire the coach. Among the players available in the ahl and nhl, when was the last time the flyers iced the 18 best players. In my opinion it was either late laviollette or early berube. - Shrike
That is not how I see it, as you probably know by my posts. If I felt the pieces definitely fit together but were being used incorrectly, believe me, I would say it [shout it]. I think we have a lot of lovely pieces that just don’t fit well together. Say what you will but unless you expect the coach to morph those players shift by shift, coaching can’t take the largest chunk of blame. |

Trouba is a beast, he is a top pair right shot D, I wish he'd sign here long term but sadly all reports are he wants to play in the states. I think you have some excellent young D with potential but Trouba instantly becomes your best D, logging the most minutes and constantly playing against the other teams best line.
he instantly makes you better as you lose Patrick who is not overly helping you guys now, is absolutely injury prone and may never live up to his 2nd over all draft status. what if all he ever becomes is a solid 3rd line center? Myers is unproven in the NHL, also injury prone and also may end up nothing more than a bottom pair. Trouba is right now a top pair D playing better than any D on your team.
if you disagree that's fine, no problem. I watch both teams equally, have always been a big Flyers fan as a ton of your best players have either played near me in Brandon ( Propp, Hextall, Provorov, Patrick) or are from my home Province ( Leatch, Clark ) - Ross77
I see you left Weise out of that group. |

Certainly not helping that thier 2 best defensemen and 2nd line C have gone into thier shells but I cant ignore the holes that Hextall left on the roster.
I liked the JVR signing but it seems a little odd in retrospect when you couldnt provide him an NHL level center to play with. I also think Knonblach has mismanaged the PP which hasnt helped his impact. I'll give Hexy a pass on not upgrading the D, I understand it. 0 moves to deal with the goaltending situation is inexecusable. |

He's 20. He needs time to develop.
Going into the season with a 20 yr old 2C and no proven 3C was a really poor decision on Hextall's part. While Nolan can certainly improve this is much more on Hextall than it is on Patrick imo.

At the same time though there are young Centers in the same position and excelling. I dont think his age should be any part of the problem. He is either a slow developer or a bust |

yeah he didnt give to much detail but he used Ghost an example and how he rushed the puck last night. he left out the details that would have let me understand why. |

If that's true about those players then why do want to trade for them? - MJL
I’ve come to realize we will be forced to trade Trouba and I’d look for a trade that has high risk, high reward. The trades of Seth Jones for Ryan Johansen are few and far between |

I mean the thought was you had Voracek on his wing so that should help.
For me I just don't like some of our top players. I don't like the mix and feel like the teams needs a little shuffling. |

didnt they say Nash too? Despite the talk of winning now as well as the future i believe Hextall wasn't all that too concerned with the now as much as the future. just my opinion. |

I'd love Trouba. But right now where the Flyers stand there is no reason to make that deal as you presented.
I would do something like Voracek for Trouba type deal. Some package based around those two. |
