I am not worried about Simmonds haunting us for the next 5 years. I take best deal i find.

This is the reason Ottawa ended up with a deal they did for Karlsson.

- J35Bacher

Few teams could afford karlsson contract demands and willing to give up the prospects picks to get the deals done. Simmer is mild cost and 30 teams would love to have him.

How does this make the Flyers better?
- opeth_pa

Trouba is a beast, he is a top pair right shot D, I wish he'd sign here long term but sadly all reports are he wants to play in the states. I think you have some excellent young D with potential but Trouba instantly becomes your best D, logging the most minutes and constantly playing against the other teams best line.

he instantly makes you better as you lose Patrick who is not overly helping you guys now, is absolutely injury prone and may never live up to his 2nd over all draft status. what if all he ever becomes is a solid 3rd line center? Myers is unproven in the NHL, also injury prone and also may end up nothing more than a bottom pair. Trouba is right now a top pair D playing better than any D on your team.

if you disagree that's fine, no problem. I watch both teams equally, have always been a big Flyers fan as a ton of your best players have either played near me in Brandon ( Propp, Hextall, Provorov, Patrick) or are from my home Province ( Leatch, Clark )

- Tfaehner

Plan B was Voroybov, who EVERYONE was slobbering over during the preseason.

It seems that its so easy to blame hextall for not going out and overpaying for a 3rd line center when one was in place, who had a great preseason, and a good start to the season. What ever happened to him is anyones guess but to sit here day after day and bemoan the fact that we need a 3rd line center is baffling

What did Karlsson re sign for?

I think plenty of the teams could offer better deals then what San Jose offered. Dorian just had no intention of keeping him in the East because of the same thing you think Simmonds will do.

You can't worry about that. You need to find the best deal that helps your team.

There is now big reasons to look hard at the “move G back to center” option. We cannot survive with 1 line offense. It is still possible that we could make a trade. Top of my wish list is a veteran 2-way 2C who can kill penalties. (Top 4 Right shot veteran super stable d-man follows that wish so closely it could be his shadow.)

The second option for the offense, while we wait to see if there will be a trade, is to try and get JVR going. It would be good to get JVR with G. That is it, if you can’t produce with G, you aren’t going to provide help for our other lines.

Then again, the top line is working. We could keep trying to fix the other lines thus option three.

Opt. 1

JVR-G-TK
Weal-Coots-Simmonds
Lindblom-Patrick-Voracek
Raffl-Laughton-Weise

Opt. 2

G-Coots-JVR
Weise-Patrick-TK
Lindblom-Laughton-Voracek
Raffl-Lehtera-Simmonds

Opt. 3 (minor tweaks)

You over value trouba. Hes not that good. I still remember watching him live absolutely drag down ghost in the world cup. His contract will be over priced. Myers has all the makings of a slow developing top 4 if not top pairing. Patrick is a 20 year old playing 2c in the NHL even in spite of his struggles hes shown glimpses of 1c potential on an elc. You're absolutely mad if you think were giving those players up especially when itll result in us needing to protect another d man for seattle likely making us lose sanheim since you likely protect trouba ghost provy.

No. Just no.

Doesnt make us better now. Doesnt make us better in the future. No. Dont justify your bull poop.

Would have loved to get O'Reilly when available. I thought he would have fit great and could have shifted to wing when needed if Frost or someone else was ready.

O'Reilly could have handled some of the hard minutes and also PK work.

The lines on Patrick make me feel like I am talking to a used car salesman...sorry but Patrick is just fine...and we will happily keep him here. Trouba is a great player, but the cost would be too high...

hahahahah, hey its all good, I think your out to lunch on trouba but if you want to use an example from 4 years ago, knock yourself out. I hope Patrick and myers develop into that, I truly do, but the jury is out, especially with two players as injury prone as them.

and for the record, if the Flyers did get trouba protecting 8 skaters would be the way to go in expansion. your protect G, Coots, Vor, konec, Trouba, ghost, Prov and sanheim. would be losing JVR's cap hit be all that bad???? im here all week if you want anymore problems solved, I can see you struggle lol

You guys can keep rearranging the forward lines all you want. Until we change the system being used, nothing will change. This is strictly a system and usage issue. Fire the coach. Among the players available in the ahl and nhl, when was the last time the flyers iced the 18 best players. In my opinion it was either late laviollette or early berube.

It's not a system and usage issue. It's a player issue. That's clear. There is no system that will work without the players behind it.

Does best players available mean the most talented, the players the fans like the best, or the actual best players?

It would certainly be nice if he were slotted where he belongs. Let him do what cout did his first 3-4 years.

Is "golden" above 25th in Points% a 31 team league?

Or above 28th in PP%?

Or above 30th in PK%?
