LA will be our main competition for the #1 pick - they are awful. Probably worse than the Hawks. - EbonyRaptor
Maybe Stan has been scouting L.A. to see how he can make them better and the Hawks worse. |

Breaking down the season into 10 game segments:
Games 1-10: 6-2-2 = 14 points = 70% of possible points.
Games 11-20: 1-6-3 = 5 points = 25% of possible points.
Games 21-29: 2-7-0 = 4 points = 22% of possible points.
There's one game left in the 3rd segment, but still ... |

Guys don’t worry our 50 game win streak is about to start. Hawks are signing Jared Fogles brother for goalie. He never got skinny. No goals allowed. |

When it was first suggested I thought it was silly, but at this point why not try Gustafson at Center/Wing with Kane? He’s got offensive skill and can finish. That being said, having him continue to play defense does help the tank! |

Very likely the 50 game win streak starts tomorrow in Vegas on a back 2 back, with Vegas off tonight...Ha! |

It is a waste of Patrick Kane to put John Hayden on his line. - matt_ahrens
So Right Matt. A complete waste of time - you watch and you can’t actually believe it is happening. Kane must surely be wondering what is going on. Clueless coaches creating non-sensical lines on top of the dead last PP in the NHL - Dead Last! |

Yeah was hoping he’d show something this year. But he hasn’t.
He’s a borderline 4th line guy and nothing more. - bhawks2241

WTF, 50. You can't vacate until the puck is past center ice. Yeah, 88 and 2 messed up, but you cannot cheat. - gmurban
The Hawks are receiving totally unprofessional coaching - we cannot even pull a goalie properly now. Incredible. |

This new d zone coverage is a jokeeeee. Does this team even practice? Communicate on ice? Guys just standing around watching a Duck walk the puck to the net from the boards.
No one knows who they are supposed to cover or where they need to be. - bhawks2241
There does not seem to be professional coaching at this point. The Assistants seem especially useless. Whatever is supposed to be happening in the D-Zone is not happening.
PP DEAD LAST on top of everything else. Ponder this - on a PP where we can have Kane, Cat and Toews we not only cannot score a GOAL we can’t even get a freakin’ SHOT! |

I could not disagree with you more. Hayden, raw at times, gives you the most complete effort night in and night out. He plays the body, does well along the wall. He is part of the solution. - TrueGrit
Is there a 2nd Hayden that you have been watching that I’ve been missing? - as the one I’ve been watching has some size but rarely, if ever, plays the body, does not win board battles, does not have the backs of his teammates, often mistakenly thinks he is Kane 2.0 and does NOT give a complete effort every night. I am sure the confusion will alleviate when both Haydens are sent to Rockford.

At least we're not giving up two or three odd man rushes a period like we used to. - Dieselhead
It is a good thing too as Crawford seems incapable of playing his angles on shooters quickly breaking in on him. Don’t know if it is a health issue or if he is just terrible but regardless of the cause, it is not a good situation moving forward. Someone had stats recently that odd-man breaks were down for the Hawks but that opposing teams were scoring with great frequency.
I’m worried about Crawford as he also seemed completely out of it on the incredibly bad 2nd goal. |

Maybe he's going through a bit of a bad period, if you will. I think if he wasn't right and was suffering from any health issues, we'd be seeing Ward almost exclusively. |

The plummet from the Hawks' "Golden Age" is tough to watch but it's not unexpected. A team of young guns with outstanding complimentary players glued together by the two way veteran Marian Hossa and other veterans. Right from the first cup the Hawks' started getting weaker, first the top end depth had to be moved, then some of the secondary veterans. When Hossa finally left the glue that held it all together was gone leaving a team with almost no depth,no cap room and five core players all on the downsides of their careers.
The only way to have avoided this freefall was to have started moving core players after the 2015 cup win. I know this for certain because hindsight makes me smarter than Bowman, or Q or McD or Rocky. But without hindsight how many here who are moaning about what the Hawks are today, would have been able to handle the Hawks trading Seabrook for some young prospects or draft picks? What if the rumour of the Sabres and the Hawks having a deal in place if the Sabres had won the lottery pick in McDavid's draft year, for A 26 year old patrick Kane were true? What if Toews were moved as a 26 or 27 year old for an up and coming Mark Scheifele? What if Keith was traded for some young guy? How about Crow? Posters on this site would have been jumping off buildings!
The Glory days are over, the Hawks are unlikely to get better until they get worse. Now we see what the Hawks organization is made of. Big decisions need to be made to rebuild the team. Unlike many fans who were whining and female doging about the Hawks when they were winning, I enjoyed the ride. Maybe that's why I'm not as angry and bitter as many of the fans who didn't enjoy the Blackhawk's Golden Age as much as I did. - paulr

Now you know why I am pushing for a rule change, give the team the option to take 2 min PP or a penalty shot. Think about it, why does the F'n ref decide what should be a penalty shot or not? That should be the team's decision. |

Agree. I'm so use being bad at pp, and better at pk. Some years it was the reverse. This year, and the previous year, we are/were bad at both. |

Leave the “normal” penalties alone - but when the ref decides it SHOULD be a penalty shot (which are only converted about 1/3 of the time) give the team a two-minute PP if they don’t score on the PS. |

I think that 33% ps (alone) is a lot higher than our under 20% pp, but I agree with what you are saying. |

Except for the Hawks. Give them the two minute power play and if they don't get a shot on goal, give them a penalty shot. |
