What goalie that is going to be available doesn't have warts?
Most goalies available seem to be guys that have had injuries or older guys that are UFA's - J35Bacher
I agree 100%. The problem is some warts are more risky than others. It's like a team trading for Neuvirth, wouldn't you call that a giant risk? Now imagine if Neuvirth was making 5M.
I would consider taking a chance on Schneider, but it all depends on the situation. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if NJ traded him, but actually added incentive for another team.
Okay so why do the flyers continue to take mostly point shots year after year while other teams are able to get shots off from the slot? Not tying to argue here just genuinely curious for your rationalization - bulet13
Watch some games such as the Rangers game where the Flyers created shots from the high danger areas one after the other. Did they play with a different system in that game? You take the shots that you can create. Shot location is not based on system. If it was, it would be a simple fix. Just install the take shots from the slot offensive system.
Because the Flyers don't have a lot of forwards who find open space in there. At times you do see them (Giroux, Couturier) move off there man to get a shot off and it tends to work out great. The problem is they tend to stand in the slot like statues and the only choice is to get it back to the point for a shot.
I doubt Hak wants everything coming from the points all the time, but that is up to the forwards to find that soft spot and they aren't doing it. It can be said "It's the players fault", but the coaches have to make adjustments at practice and in game to get back to doing that as well. - Glak18
How many times do you see a player get to a lose puck or win a forecheck battle and there is nobody at the net? That player can't hold onto the puck forever.

Valid point.
Just because a defenseman gets the puck at the point are they obligated to shoot it? They have the option to get the puck down low again as well. I have 2 specific issues with what I have been seeing:
1) They are taking way more shots from the point when there is no shooting lane available then they should be.
2) Many times this year the forwards have been forcing passes back to the point through multiple opponents along the boards, which puts defensemen in a very tough spot and has led to blocked shots and odd man rushes the other way.
If you have the shot, take it no matter on the ice, but there has been very little attempt from forwards to get the puck inside, where other teams have been destroying the Flyers all year.
Bob played excellent here in one year, doesn't mean he wouldn't have played well seasons after, but he faltered in the playoffs. As you know already and is well documented Bob was traded because he demanded a trade or the Flyers would lose him. Bryz had excellent numbers in Phoenix and was a Vezina finalist there, why was he different in Philly? The team in front of a goaltender makes a big difference. - Glak18
Bingo. It's easy to call a goalie a headcase and point to their poor stats while completely ignoring what the players in front of them are doing. Bryz took way more blame for 2012 than he deserved. Lavy had no answer for the Devils aggressive forecheck. The defenseman, particularly the right side got hung out to dry.

The Flyers and goaltending has been as cliche as it comes. We can't win because we can't get a good goaltender. The best way to sum up the Flyers situation is this.
A guy/girl complains they always date the crazy aholes, everyone knows at least one person like this, and they constantly blame bad luck or have some other excuse. On the flip side, who picks these crazy aholes over and over?

Yeah they've had a number of goalies that were good with other teams come in and fail. It can't always be the goalie that's the problem just like it can't always be the other bf/gf. Gotta look in the mirror.
