About as good as the Flyers playoff experience during that same period.
I don't care.
He's not done, imho. Just going through a rough patch. I'd take him back in Philly no problem. - Scoob
Agreed. I'd take Bob back in a heart beat |

I feel like the hit was late, not direct contact to the head but.......he knew what he was doing and doing it to.
I don't see him getting suspended but maybe fined. |

Ok now tell me about his playoff experience in Columbus... - Glak18
Yes but we are talking about a team that faced many top teams in the playoffs PIT, WSH DET(Back when they were good). Lets also remember Jack Johnson was a top Dman on that team for a long time as well. |

Undeniable proof that the Flyers employ a shoot from the point perimeter system at 5 on 5.

So now that Fletcher has the job i wonder if he has some insight into Schneider? Could he use a change of scenery? He has 3 more years at 6 million. Seems like perfect term to give time for Hart.

The thinking should be grab a long term goalie. Forget about Hart. We cant rely on predicting a development timeline. If Hart is ready, move the goalie. Do exactly like Tampa did with Vaslievsky and Bishop. |

All depends on cost. Both in what the Flyers would need to give up and if the Devils would be willing to retain any of the cap hit.

I would take him as well, but if anyone expects a Vezina type goaltender who will win games by himself may be disappointed especially for the price it will cost. |

It's worth a chance, but not more than a 3rd rounder kind of chance. |

There is no such think at any advanced level of hockey, much less the NHL as an offensive system that is built around point shots. Every offensive system strives to get the puck to the high percentage scoring areas of the ice. to get the puck behind the defense and to the net. There is no coach at an advanced level who favors point shots over shots from other areas of the ice and stresses point shots over higher percentage shots. It does not exist.
Stats such as heat charts can only tell you where shots are being taken from. They cannot tell you why shots are being taken from those areas. I'm amazed of the logic behind offering that chart as undeniable proof and what Hakstol's offensive system is based on. Mind boggling. - MJL
Okay so why do the flyers continue to take mostly point shots year after year while other teams are able to get shots off from the slot? Not tying to argue here just genuinely curious for your rationalization

Say the extra 3rd rounder, Vecchione, Lyon for Schneider(25% salaray retained)
Devils get a goalie in Lyon to back up Kindkaid or send to minros and bring up one then.
Flyers clear some goalie spot to send down either Stolarz or Neuvirth if healthy.
Vecchione i don't see in future plans so maybe cost of retaining some money.

Because the Flyers don't have a lot of forwards who find open space in there. At times you do see them (Giroux, Couturier) move off there man to get a shot off and it tends to work out great. The problem is they tend to stand in the slot like statues and the only choice is to get it back to the point for a shot.
I doubt Hak wants everything coming from the points all the time, but that is up to the forwards to find that soft spot and they aren't doing it. It can be said "It's the players fault", but the coaches have to make adjustments at practice and in game to get back to doing that as well. |

I wouldn't even give them Lyon, at most I would part with Neuvirth and a 5th if they don't retain any salary. Best case scenario Schneider stays healthy and can get back to playing 50-60 games a year, worst case he can't stay healthy and becomes dead weight on the cap. He hasn't shown in a couple years to be that goalie, the risk is very high for his term. |

3rd rounder isn't scraps. They get a back up goalie who is cheap and they clear money from their cap.

Agreed. Lots of poster’s are worried about a goalies’ injury history. That’s a bit of a crap shoot. Even the most durable goalie can tear an ACL or groin at any time. If I was to roll the dice, I’d roll it on a proven winner. |

No one is taking Neuvirth.
And I don't see Lyon much more then a back up/AHL starter.

Like I said above, you probably gave more for the risk. Taking Schneider and his salary from the Devils is beneficial for them. |

Q may be not working for Chicago. But he's still getting paid and may have decided to take time off and recharge. Just because he isn't coaching doesn't mean he's available.
I don't want Stevens (Flyers ties) and Yeo (horrible in 2 places). So I'm fine with Hakstol staying for now. - dragonoffrost
It’s already been reported he’s ready to listen to teams. I like John Stevens as well. |

That's what is so crazy, Neuvirth probably has more value than Schneider...both have crazy healthy issues, both can be good when healthy, but 6M for 3+ years for the same situation is major devalue. |
