This why I question the hire...

I don’t know if this is strictly a Fletcher hire or a guy Hakstol wanted. So let’s say Hakstol gets fired. He has a miserable stretch under Fletcher’s watchful eye. The next guy also doesn’t get to hire doesn’t bring in his guys. His staff. How can a GM hire Wilson and let him go if a guy like Quenneville didn’t ask for him to begin with?

I’m assuming Fletcher was paying close attention to the Flyers the moment he was interviewed.

Wilson is only here because Hak asked him. He will be here one year, tops, no matter what happens to Hakstol. He is a GREAT hire because unlike their former defensive coach, he actually knows how to coach. He has a great track record, whereas Murphy has never had a good defense in his entire career.

He doesn't believe in analytics, he understands the game and the importance of everyone playing 200 feet, and of chemistry in defensive pairings. And he has proven to work well in mentoring and teaching young players. This is a slam dunk.
